Latching and unlatching

Hi! I feel like I keep posting here a lot haha. My 6 week old has been really fussy this evening, not really feeding, just latching, sucking a few shallow sucks then unlatching, crying tons. She does do the latch/unlatch thing but usually not this bad. Tried burping. It's been 3 hours now so I'm worried shes overtired so I've tried rocking, white noise, shut the curtains to avoid stimulation but she won't sleep. Now she's just lying in her cot, not crying but squirming a lot. Any advice? I'm lost here, worried maybe its thrush? I did take medication for mastisis but that was about 4 weeks ago :( i dont see any white patches in her mouth but her tongue can be quite white, i just assumed its milk

In the same boat! Baby is 5 weeks, she has been having treatment for thrush for 3 weeks as I also had mastitis. White tongue still not disappeared though. She's doing the latching and unlatching thing also, so bad we took her into hospital who said they think it's colic. Unfortunately I think it's pretty common ☹️

Thanks for the reply! Makes me think more about my thrush theory. I'll need to contact the gp tomorrow and hopefully they see to her soon. It makes me so upset to think she's experiencing discomfort. Sometimes she also just licks my nipple which is odd

Could it be reflux? Possibly silent reflux if you don't see a lot coming up again?

My 5 week old has also been a fusspot this week, I’m exhausted! I understand this is normal though as babies are going through their first ‘developmental leap’ which makes them very unsettled. Look up ‘wonder weeks’ - next one at 8 weeks apparently!
