Xmas pressie for baby to be born Nov 04

I am due 6/11 with 2nd child (gender unknown). I can't remember if we got dd a Christmas present as she was born end Oct and was also very little (you'd think you'd never forget something like that don't you?).

Family are all insistent on getting something for the new baby so will be getting some 6m & 9m stuff for the coming year although we have most things already.

But I was thinking this year that maybe we'd get something special from his/her big sister. Any ideas?

the trouble is that you get presents for the birth and then Christmas presents. Last year ds2 was only a month old and I told my family not to get him anything. Some gave me money so that I could buy him something later in the year when I knew what he wanted. He did get some things, but mainly books and clothes.
From ds1 I got him one of those wooden jigsaw type things that spell his name, and that sits on the chest of drawers in his room.

Whatabout a 'special' book like a hard cover book with a series of disney stories. Don't know if you have anything like that already but you can sit with both of them to read it and if your dd likes it will be proud to have given it.

My baby is due 3/11. We have bought it a brightly patterned cuddly elephant (a bit like Elmo the elephant style-don't know if you know what I mean)
It is velour, lovely and squashy. We hope it will become the baby's special cuddly and that we can tell him/her they had it for their very 1st Christmas.

One of the loveliest pressies I got was a bound book of all the Beatrix Potter stories. It's the kind of present you can keep for years and my dd loves listening to the stories.
Or get your dd to paint/make a picture for the new baby and then get it framed.
