OH GOD dd seems to have them.

She is alternately angel and devil. She wants to to nothing I want her to. She spends her whole time pulling things like sandwich bags and dishwasher tablets out of the drawers and cupboards and I WANT TO STRANGLE HER!!!!!

Obviously that is not an option as I would be imprisoned for infanticide, so instead I thought I would share my horrors with others who are going through the same thing.

Obviously she is utterly adorable in many ways still and we adore her, I just find she tries my patience very regularly. Grrrrrrrrrr

no you are teh mother of a two year old - not wanting to upset you mine is still like it at almost 4

Pippinthedog · 16/10/2004 20:26

my two year old has just begun the habit of repeating a word over and over and over again! aggghhh!!.This is particularly when he wants something eg..bicit,bicit,bicit,bicit,bicit,bicit,bicit,(biscuit)and so on.You get my point. It gets to the stage where i am so worn down that i would give him the whole packet just for some peace!!.

pippin - ds des this but only until you rpeat the word he is saying.....worth a try?

jacksmumto1 · 16/10/2004 20:30

Don't tell us that Gothicmama!! It's supposed to pass magically when they reach 3!!

I know how you feel CD... it's the cheekiness and answering back that drives me nuts.. yet when he is nice, he is so loving and makes us laugh so much!

Get a nice glass of wine and a bar of choc - will make you feel better... though we will be alcoholics and overweight from all that chocolate by the time they leave home!

popsycal · 16/10/2004 20:32

But aren't the angel bits totally gorgeous?!?

DS is starting to get very cheeky - bu in a lovely way.
We have a game where I say something like 'I love biscuits' and he will copy then he says #i love toast' and i copy

then i say I love ds and he says i love daddy and refuses really cheekily to say i love mammy - no matter what!

and he now says thanks you mammy without any promtping

but at other times grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Hulababy · 16/10/2004 20:34

I have an adorable 2.5yo most of the time. It's just that x% isn't it? We have a phase of being arguementative going on right now at times. I am sire she'd argue black is white just to have her say. At times it seems that everything she says starts with either "Cos...", "Why..." or "But..."

Kaz33 · 16/10/2004 20:34

Sorry Gothicamama my 3 year old has only just started - but now as he is that little older he is also devious with it !!

Hulababy · 16/10/2004 20:37

Popsy - you're right. The angel bits are priceless. DD can get away with almost anything when she comes upp to me, wraps her arms round my leg and says "Your my mummy; I love you soooo much mummy" Awh!

Pippinthedog · 16/10/2004 20:40

I make it clear that i know what hes saying but he gets louder and louder!,in the end i can usually divert his attention to something else or i just move away muttering to myself that i live in a madhouse!.He can be very sweet most of the time but nobody ever said toddlers were easy.

tinyganghq · 16/10/2004 20:42

Well mine are just three - but 2/3, whatever..I have decided that it must be a biological neccessitiy for people of this age to be utterly GORGEOUS otherwise they would never survive to tell the tale ie: 'how I drove my mummy to the edge of madness and beyond!' Agree with the wine and chocolate therapy jacksmum!

Pippinthedog · 16/10/2004 20:44

Hulababy that sounds so cute.I cant wait till mine says things like that to me.

Pippinthedog · 16/10/2004 20:48

one of my friends was at the end of her tether with her two yr old the other day.She comforted herself by escaping to the kitchen(which has a stairgate on it)and eating a whole jar of chocolate spread!.

collision · 16/10/2004 21:37

The cute bits are so cute like 'I miss you, Mummy' and when he pretends to be characters off the TV. I have to be Gromit and he is the naughty penguin and we act out the scene. Or when he says 'Whatcha doin'? Mummy' for the 47th time. (Have nipped that one in the bud tho and say things like 'Am riding a goat!' or 'eating spaghetti' which sends him into hysterics!!)

Its the 'Dont say NO to ME, Mummy' or 'Grrrrr'and the anger on his face is quite scary! (We have nipped this one in the bud too, by ignoring him which he hates!!)

Cant wait for the next one ......due in 4 weeks!

Pippinthedog · 16/10/2004 22:05

collision- how do you think he will be with the new baby?

handlemecarefully · 16/10/2004 23:36

Ummmm - feeling murderous towards my 2.3 year old.

Mummy: Right, we are going out to the park now - lets put your coat and shoes on
dd: No
Mummy: You'll get cold otherwise
dd: No, no, no !!! (runs off and hides)
Mummy: Okay we won't go the park then, see if I care [I know - not very mature]
dd: want park, want park
Mummy: then put your coat on
dd: Nooooooooooooo

Or, when getting out of car to go to shoe shop

dd: want car, want car ......waaahhhhhhh (mock hysterical crying) [i.e. she wants to get back in the car for no good reason other than its spectacularly unhelpful]

It just makes me very very weary.....

blossomhill · 16/10/2004 23:38
