Late with DS1 as didn't think, DD did herself so I don't want to mess it up with DS2.

DS2, who is nearly 2 and 4 months came and told me he had done a poo this morning. I ask him to check his nappy and most of the time he knows he hasn't done a poo. After coming to tell me this morning I wonder if I have to wait until he tells me before (Usual advice) or give it a go. Probably wait until half term though as not sure how would manage with all the other kids.

Wait till half term NAB3 & give it a go with Big Boy pants if you think he's ready. You could go to pull-ups but use them like proper pants so he has practise holding ut in. Or just go for it have loads of washing & see if he "clicks" Is he dry already?

Sometimes they know they've "been" which is half the batttle but can't hold it enough tell you before they need to go!

Good luck!

He sometimes has a dry or dryish nappy after 2- 3 hours but other times can be soaked. Wet every morning though he insists he is dry when his siblings are getting their choc buttons for being dry.

Sounds like he's getting there but might be worth a try at half-term.Don't get disheartened if he has loads of accidents & just go for it!! You can always leave it for a while f it's stressing you both out too much after a week!

I am thinking he still can stay in his cot but have had broken nights nearly every night this week so wonder if he does need more space. DH thinks is has become a habit. Not sure what to do.

Best bit of advice I was given when DD1 was going into a bed was to do it in stages.ie

Night 1: Put the cot next to the new bed & tell DS it's your big boys bed -soon you will go in it"

Over the next few days....Get him to help choose a new duvet cover/pillows/pj's whatever (grandparents are often a help with the cost of this)

Night 2/3 -Take the cotside off & push it right up next to the bed. Tell DS he can sleep in it if he wants but don't push it.Often my DD was half in the cot with her bum in the bed when we checked!!

Nights 3-5-When you think he is happy in his bed move the cot away but leave it in the same room for a few nights. Then say "oh it's in the way shall be move it out?"

We did this when we wanted DD1 out of the cot before DD2 came along & it worked beautifully as she didn't feel she was being ejected for the baby, it was a natural progression.

Sorry to rattle on-it worked for us but I'm sure there are other good ideas out there too!!

Unfortunately there isn't room in his bedroom for a cot and a bed.

I have laready bought the bed and all the bedding so that is washed and aired and ready to go.

I think we are doing it on Sunday night as we need to be up early on MOnday for school anyway.

Just now, I was getting him ready for his nap, and he climbed up on the side bars. I think it is time. He fell out a few weeks ago but never did it again.

Excited about potty training now as hr is understanding so much.
