Please help me work out what's wrong - night pain 15 month

I am on my knees.

Since at least Feb, my now 15month old has been waking up by crying every 30mins to 3 hours all night. Please can anyone read this and help?

Been going on since at least early Feb. It might have been for longer than this - the lack of sleep has really got to me.

He sleeps for a solid 3 hours then it starts. Some nights are worse than others and it will be every 30mins. Never longer than 3 hours in between.

It starts as a slight whimper, but very quickly he is loudly whinging in pain (is that even a word? Perhaps a strange point, but the noise reminds me of the noise dogs make when they hurt themselves but more drawn out). He also kind of wriggles and tosses from side to side in what seems like pain. Sometimes it skips this and goes straight to the screams.

Happens regardless of where he sleeps. Not too cold or warm, and happens in dark and light rooms.

He shares a big bed with me quite simply because it saves me getting up during this. It isn't attention based, as no amount of cuddles helps. He doesn't even want my attention - he is still part asleep but struggling.

Milk settles him and he can then go straight back sleep usually. Sometimes it takes Calpol and waiting. If I do nothing he just gets more distressed until he wakes up fully. He eats well in the day (always been top 10% for weight).

It got really bad two weeks ago and he also developed a temperature. Stayed in the hospital and they treated him for tonsillitis and ear infection. He seems better now except for this. Saw a Dr last night but I felt really written off - as soon as bed sharing came up she clearly wrote me off as overprotective.

Please, am I crazy? What could this be?

Has the tonsillitis/ear infection cleared up?

Could he just be having bad dreams?

Mine did that sometimes from just having a stomachache/having wind/being constipated. I remember spending a lot of time doing massages and bicycles.

It may be night terrors.

It may be beneficial to do some research on them, discuss with your GP and to rule out any other possible illnesses/causes.

Thank you for replying so quickly. At this time in the morning I didn't think anyone would see it.

Would bad dreams be every single night and so regularly? I've heard bad dreams can be worse when new events are happening around the toddler but nothing is happening here. It actually feels quite groundhog Day ATM.

Good idea about the wind etc but surely we would have at least one day off? It seems way too regular and his bowels are functioning well in the day.

He doesn't have a red throat or temp anymore, so the Dr said the tonsillitis must have cleared up. Problem I have with that is that the temperature was the last symptom to appear last time, and in hospital I was told I should have brought him to be seen before then because he had it quite bad so now I just feel really confused.

I've booked in with the dentist in case it is his teeth. Can't speak to a Dr till tomorrow.

Any other suggestions or ideas?
I'm barely functioning in the day because of this
