Views on the LOL dolls news?

Mybabysmylife1 · 16/08/2020 22:55

So I have just seen a video circulating across the internet about lol surprise dolls being sexual etc with like sexual stripper clothes and "caution" on there private parts , devil tail on there back and kinky fish jets on there legs when dipped in water. Also one had cuffs around her wrists and what looked like bruises all over her body. I have bought my 3 year old a ton of these for Xmas. What should I do with them now?

If you are unhappy, return them?

Mybabysmylife1 · 16/08/2020 23:03

@SnowdropFox missed out the part lol I ment to put aswell " I bought them from several places won on eBay on bidding , bought from shops but didn't keep receipts as I moved houses and lost most things like an idiot 😭

Saw this video too - the one with the caution tape is a rare one based on Lady Gaga in the Telephone video - it even has the Diet Coke can rollers etc, so not as sinister as it sounds. Not sure about the others though, will need to test some of my daughters!

Gingerkittykat · 16/08/2020 23:18

Test them yourself and see if they are suitable, I think some of the videos are fakes but some are true and totally inappropriate for a toy for young girls.

Mybabysmylife1 · 16/08/2020 23:20

@Gingerkittykat I've tested the ones she has now non of them are water ones so don't have anything on them. But she has loads for Xmas that I have bought over past few months. I'll need to test them when opened

We only have one and I tested it and there is nothing but I won’t be buying anymore. I was hoping this was all going to be a hoax.

Legoandloldolls · 16/08/2020 23:21

They are quite sulty and always have been. No secret about it. They are aimed at quite young kids and it all goes over my dd head

lolalolalol · 16/08/2020 23:22

My DD's have hundreds, most do not colour change. The ones that do (and you are aware in advance if they colour change) have not been sinister. My DC don't put them in the water anyway.

Gingerkittykat · 16/08/2020 23:24

Can you google images of the specific ones she has bought and see what comes up. Even if kids don't understand the connotations of lingerie it is something that will impact them subconsciously.

Feminist10101 · 16/08/2020 23:25

I have bought my 3 year old a ton of these for Xmas.

Seriously? Are they even meant for toddlers?!

Mybabysmylife1 · 16/08/2020 23:26

I agree with everyone's comments. My daughter is obsessed I feel like selling them and buying barbie🤷🏽‍♀️

Mybabysmylife1 · 16/08/2020 23:27

@Feminist10101 I bought the pets and the ones that are 3+ my child is going to be 4 soon

OP posts:
Mybabysmylife1 · 16/08/2020 23:27

@Feminist10101 I also thought they were collectibles she could play with in her doll house had no idea about this till now

Mywifeandkids1 · 16/08/2020 23:33

I think it’s ridiculous. Checked ours and they are fine, DD also never puts them in water but tbh why would a pizza on an lol doll damage my daughter... it wouldn’t.

Feminist10101 · 16/08/2020 23:33

Barbie’s not much better!

Feminist10101 · 16/08/2020 23:34

Also, those on eBay are almost certainly fake and made of highly toxic and banned in the EU chemicals.

Mybabysmylife1 · 16/08/2020 23:35

@Mywifeandkids1 I have been thinking the same

Mybabysmylife1 · 16/08/2020 23:36

@Feminist10101 I got 1 of of eBay and had the code checked with MGM it's not fake I'm well aware of fake ones the rest I bought from shops.

toomuchfaster · 16/08/2020 23:36

I thought they were 3+ due to choking hazard pieces, not because they are appropriate for 4 year olds!! Lots of toys are 3+ that are inappropriate for young children.

Mybabysmylife1 · 16/08/2020 23:38

@toomuchfaster , to my opinion it was a little doll you can collect my daughter only played with them in her doll house. It's literally a doll to my knowledge before all this sprung up I had no concerns in buying my child some dolls that are like barbie?

Jackleila14 · 17/08/2020 16:51

It actually says on the packaging that they colour change in cold water , my daughter actually gets ice and purposely colour changes them , she just sees it as swimwear. I agree they’re pretty inappropriately dresses and have always said this however as adults we see things in a much different way to children.

Mybabysmylife1 · 17/08/2020 17:36

@Jackleila14 I agree completely it's just the thought of people looking at us as bad parents because of the way there put out now

Emmelina · 17/08/2020 20:28

One of the first (of very few, thankfully- she decided she was too old for surprise collectibles after the first 10) was the one in fishnets and eyeliner! I didn’t really know anything about them other than lots of little girls were collecting and swapping them and those tiny accessories.
Those of an age to collect little things like this are really on the young side for their style, to be honest.
I have seen the video - none of the dolls she has are revealing any hidden messages and tattoos. I’d be interested to see if this is actually a real thing and not just that she got unlucky with Chinese fakes (or has somehow doctored the dolls for the video!).

Mybabysmylife1 · 17/08/2020 20:47

@Emmelina I'm thinking the same thing now , as my daughters haven't got nothing like that on.. well mine are not water based so they have nothing I have 1 water based and it just has a full body suit on. My daughter roust wanted to collect them because she has a big doll house and wants one for or each room lol.

Jackleila14 · 18/08/2020 00:13

I don’t mind what other people think if I’m honest my dd loves them and I’m not going to suddenly take them away from her. She doesn’t see fishnet tights she sees a pattern on their legs and she doesn’t see raunchy underwear she sees swimwear , she has never been exposed to those other things so she would never think that way . I hope that going forward the company does take into consideration parents concerns and dress them more appropriately though.
