Best puddle/rain suits

Hi

I'm expecting that this autumn /winter we will be spending a lot of time wet at the park with everything still closed! My son is 19m now (2 in Jan) what puddle suits / over clothes / wellies does everyone recommend?

And any recommendations for me? I'm usually a lovely wool coat type of person so I don't own any practical clothes for rainy park days!

Thank you

We have a jojo one for my DD which is great but it is just a rain mac essentially. Friends had ones from M&S which were lined and looked much warmer.

Thank you I'll have a look!

Spotty Otter - strange name but apparently an excellent puddle suit!

Another vote for Spotty Otter. Pricey but properly waterproof and bombproof

I paid out for Muddy Puddle ones for DS first winter. The next year I got some cheap supermarket ones and a fleece lined Peter Storm one off Amazon for a tenner. Honestly, I found them all much the same. They grow so fast, I didn’t see the value in expensive ones.

Mine had welly weather suits. Were brilliant and a sold on close to cost price. I have a mountain warehouse 10,000 hydrostatic rated (waterproof) 3 in 1 jacket suitable to minus 20, cost £80 and never get wet even in torrential rain (near daily use for 3 years). I also have waterproof trousers.

We live 10 min walk from the park so I don't know if I would ever be out so long as to justify the £80 ones. My son is so so tall, he is height of 2.5 year old and he's only 1.5 so I'm worried he will outgrow quickly.

Hmmmm dilemmas!

DS is 2 and we got him some Polarn o pyret waterproof trousers (in the sale - they were £20 instead of £28) last year and they will fit him this year and possibly next year too so I think a bargain really! They have adjustable shoulder clips. I prefer them to all in ones as easier to get on and off and can have different coats on underneath depending on weather.

This is a good point.

I know it sounds so silly but I'm do rubbish at practical clothing 🤣 I don't have a clue

I always preferred 2 piece dungarees and jacket. Fits for longer, and you can take the jacket off and not overheat if it isn't raining but the ground is still muddy.

Lidl do excellent fleece lined ones dungarees for a very good price.

Aldi do cheap unlined ones, they were very good too.

I found Jojo ones lost their taped seams in the wash and stopped being waterproof (this was a while ago, so maybe they have sorted their design out now).

Best ones we ever had were from Didriksons, found in a charity shop.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 15/08/2020 20:16

Lidl ones here too, went for separate trouser and coat to make toilet trips easier.

We have a Regatta one for my DD(3), it’s fleece lined so really cosy. DS(6) has the same brand of waterproof trousers, and they’ve also been fabulous

I love the ielm suits. Super for autumn and winter and quick dry for using multiple time a day. I always go for the ones in the sale, never paid more than £30 for one. The are quite generous in the sizing also
