So my girl will soon be going onto food ( puréed food) and I'm just wondering how I introduce it? Just worried about it, do I start slowly introducing the meals at a time? So do I slowly start with breakfast and just stick with breakfast for a couple of weeks ? Just all completely new to me. What sort of breakfast foods are good that I can use?

I haven’t started yet, but the nhs weaning guidelines seem very helpful if you want to take a read.

Basically says anything is allowed from 6 months apart from choosing hazards ie a whole Brazil nut

I’m planning to give stuff like Greek yogurt, fruit, porridge, scrambled eggs for breakfast.

And I think they can start on all three meals as they just have a little bit to start with of what we are having so can be offered a bit at each meal to try.

Food doesn’t need to be puréed

Ive introduced one meal a day, then moved on. So in week one I did just dinner, then week two I did lunch and dinner. I havent introduced breakfast just yet but will soon. You can feed what you like really. Ive pureed vegetables or fruit because ive started before 6 months, but if you're starting 6 months or after you can be a bit more lax with it. Its important to remember it isnt for nutritional content during the early stages, its just to introduce new tastes and get them used to eating from something other than a bottle/boob.

Have a look at Nanny Louenna on Instagram. She has some really good tips.

If you're starting before 6 months then you shouldnt give them anything but pureed fruit, veg or baby rice.

How much before 6 months is your baby and why do you think they are ready for solids?
Under 6 months you should limit to fruit, veg and gluten free cereals. Meat, dairy, gluten, etc can be introduced from 6 months

Laurenxoxo · 13/08/2020 17:41

She will be 4 months soon so I'm wanting to start her when she passes the 4 month mark, I believe she is ready for solids as she is feeding pretty much every 2 hours, milk is just not enough for her she's a hungry baby all of the time. I will try the jarred foods you can buy that are made for 4-6 months.

If doing purées rather than baby led weaning, it's recommenced to start with single taste at first, then build up to mixed foods and meals.

We started DD weaning by using the ella's kitchen guide. The first week was potato, broccoli, green beans, peas, sprouts and cauliflower (I think) as it's suggested starting them off with the bitter, green veg tastes rather than sweet veg or fruit.

If you start with jars or pouches, check the ingredients for the salt content (I know ella's kitchen don't add salt, not sure about any others)

Oooh yes. Ellas Kitchen do great fruit pouches too.
