When do all the crap parts come to an end?

DD is 12 weeks on Friday. When can I expect all the really crap parts to end? I mean the possetting, the burping, the gassiness, the farts that seem to require an hour of moaning and wriggling, the evening crying, the fussiness, the cluster feeding.... all of the above. Does it have an end?

Yes! I honestly felt by maybe 5 mo that it was easier. DS needed less effort to burp and as supply settled and he got bigger, puke was less of a factor, and by being able to sit up a bit, wind moved through more easily. We never did cluster feed but poos sleep was a feature for a while.

It definitely does end, but it won't do it all at once. It will fade into the past (until you read a post on MN which will trigger the memories. I had forgotten our red-faced girl grunting and squirming until the other day). You'll start to have days that seem a little more 'in control' than before.
Hang on in there, everyone tells you to 'enjoy the snuggles' but I stumbled through those days in a sleep deprived haze and around 4-6 months things started to click into place much more.

I was about to say when they can go to the toilet independently but that’s not what you meant by improves. It does get better than the first few months but it’s a gradual thing which creeps up on you. It also depends on your child and the parenting choices you make.

You’re close!! After you have a baby you have 100 days of hell. You’re nearly done, the mega shit bit is soon over. Things get better again at about 5 months. X

Ihaveoflate · 12/08/2020 21:48

For me it was around 4 months and a lot better from 6 months when she could sit up and her reflux was no longer a problem.

It's different for everyone though - you can ask 10 different people and get as many answers. The one thing I can guarantee you is that it WILL improve - I just can't promise you when.

Don’t want to worry you, but my DH definitely burps, moans and takes ages over a fart!

Footlooseandfancy · 12/08/2020 22:14

Are you getting any real life support OP? It seems like you're having a really tough time.

Things will get better but no one knows when and tbh they often just get replaced with other crap things. Mine is 2 and tbh I'd take struggling to fart over a meltdown in the supermarket any day of the week.

My DS is 15 weeks and although he still needs burping, possets, sometimes struggles and strains to do a poo and is occasionally sick, I think things are definitely easier than they were when he was six or eight weeks. He also cries quite a bit less than he used to.

atvh · 12/08/2020 22:56

Actually thinking about it, pooing is way less of an “event” for DS now than it used to be!

FartnissEverbeans · 13/08/2020 10:44

The start of weaning was a turning point for us! It brought its own challenges but it was quite fun and I could feel the pressure lifting. DS had terrible reflux and solid food sorted it right out

Spied · 13/08/2020 10:48

Once these 'crap' parts are all over you'll find a whole new set of crap parts to contend with don't worry about that!Grin
My DC are 9&10 and I'm still in the midst of crappiness...
