reusables for twins

I am expecting twins in the new year Jan/Feb. They will be my first and probably last kids. As I am a bit of a tree-hugger I wanted to go down the washable route but would like your advice.
Which are good.
How many am I likely to need.
Am I making a rod for my own back and should I just use disposables.

You wont regret choosing cloth and bonus for twins- you can buy twice as many different nappies and then they can share! (I do this with my youngest two lol, not twins but only 13 months apart).
You need about 12 per day each for the early days, that accounts for 3 hourly changes ( 8 ) and 4 for emergency poo changes. Then when they settle and sleep a bit more you can do with 8 each per day. I have 20 between my two who are now nearly 9 months and 22 months old.
I would advise having a back stock of things like terry squares and prefolds for if you run out of shapeds, or if you just don't feel like washing.

Don't forget you will need wraps if using 2 parts, although for the early days they aren't essential due to the absorbency of the nappies, lack of wee ( supposedly) and the frequency of changing.

Sorry, don't want to bombard you but those are the bare bones, and I'm sure Flame will be along shortly to help !!!!!( if not go to bumfluff nappies and get hold of her lol. She's a peach.

hi merlypuss - flame sent me a really good email about reusables for the dts, she will be about soon to help.

Hiya,

If you email bumfluffnappies at gmail dot com I will do it all via email in the morning (desperately need sleep at the moment)

But definately not a rod - we're in disposables for a few days (explosion of teething poo not noticed in time and now sore legs), and I have had to change his trousers at least once a day each day because of leaks

Much much cheaper too, especially with twins.

After a few years of washables, I have decided I like having a bit of a mix: a few lovely bamboo and organic cotton velour with wraps because they are lovely and tactile (and really reliable), and a few fast drying bumgenius and fuzzis to use while we wait for the others to dry I find these are good for wearing under slimmer-fitting clothes too!

Just had a think and we have 20 nappies (I have two in large nappies) and do a wash every 2-3 days, although I must confess we mostly use dispicables at night (although I hope that will change soon when I get some more inserts and boosters)
