Dairy Free Formula.

My daughter has been swapped to dairy free formula as she has a suspected cows milk allergy. We've been using it for four days now and she seems 10x better than before. She previously was constipated which the doctor said isn't usually a CMA symptom however she has seen it go that way aswell. She has being going for poos daily since this new milk which is great, but they are slightly more running than previous. Not full on water runny, but not the solid peanut butter poop from before.

I'm assuming this is just her tiny tummy adjusting to new formula but wondered if anyone else has any experience from their little ones?

I've left a message for the doctor to ask if it's normal. A massive part of me thinks it is, since she's not drinking what she was before so her poo wouldn't be the same but I'm a worrier!!

There is a great CMPA Facebook group. I would ask on there but it will take 3 weeks for the cmp to be out of her system.

Cmpa baby here too. Which milk is she on?

We are on neocate and his nappies are generally looser than they were before. The AA milks tend to turn poo dark army green too.

After 4 days the old milk will still be in her system so could be that too.

I have read lots of babies having constipation as a symptom on the FB support group - good place to go if you’re a worrier (like me!) as lots of mums who can help reassure you :)

Is she allergic to the lactose or the protein in milk? Cousins baby had a milk protein allergy and was put on a prescription only forumla which absolutely stank! Amino acids or something in it. I'd assume its taking time to adjust, and as long as she isnt dehydrated shoudl be fine, but good idea to chat to GP.

Forgot to add, that cousins baby is now 6. After the special formula, I think they moved to soy or almond milk. Depending on intolerance, goast milk might be an option down the line. Cousin can now have small amounts of dairy milk, cheese, ice creams etc without ill effect. Large amounts cause issues though. Just letting you know that just because there is an allergy/intolerance now, doesnt always mean it will be the case when they grow up. x
