Body feels broken older mum

I'm 39 3 DCs, I had DS16 when I was 23, had DD1 who is 17 months at 38 and DD2 who is 4 and half months at 39.
Since having my daughters my body feels broken! I wake up every morning feeling like I've been hit by a bus, everything aches specially my back!
I also feel about 10'years older these I did before DDs.
Don't get me wrong I love being an older mum, feel like I have more time and patience for them but my gosh it's took its toll on my body!

Just wondering if any other older mums feel the same and what are your tips and tricks, if any??

Im 34 and have a 4 month old. I was just saying to my partner yesterday I feel as if ive had my son and aged 10 years...

converseandjeans · 06/08/2020 09:27

I had DD when I was 35 and DS when I was 37. I think it's possibly the fact they are close in age that might be making you feel that way. I definitely feel old now at 48!

A friend who was an older mum got huge relief from sessions with a chiropractor who realigned bits that were causing her chronic pain. That, and swimming twice a week.

@Letsallscreamatthesistene it really does age you!

@converseandjeans how does it feel now having a 13 year old and 11 year old at 48? I'll be 49 when middle child is 11 that scares the hell out of me! Don't want people thinking I'm their nan!

@Cattiwampus I was thinking about going to see one myself. Really can't take this back pain any longer

I'm 39 and have a 1 yo - she is my only child. I don't feel especially old beyond my years, apart from pelvic floor issues caused by birth trauma. She's a good sleeper so I'm well rested.

As pp said, having 2 babies close in age might be more of a factor. You're also pretty early in your recovery at 4 months with sleep being an issue.

Don't write yourself off just yet - it might just take a bit more time than it did when you were younger.

OneMoreForExtra · 06/08/2020 10:41

I had DS at 42 - you're a bairn! Which isn't to say its not blooming hard work.

mommybear1 · 06/08/2020 14:50

I have a long standing back problem for which I have had two spinal surgeries so far. I had my DS at 39 and at 42 now I feel twice my age as he's like all toddlers - active!!! I've started doing stretches in the morning - YouTube Ask Dr Jo - she's great I've only been doing it a week and I feel so much better already. Have a look OP I've even been doing mine with my toddler Grin.

bellbaeu · 06/08/2020 16:52

@Ihaveoflate yes your right it's only been nearly 18 weeks and I did have a c-section! She's just started sleeping through just a shame I can't, forever checking she's ok!

@OneMoreForExtra haha thanks. Yes it is bloody hard work!

@mommybear1 thanks for that I will get looking for her on YouTube and maybe my little one will also get involved haha

You have a 4 month old a 17 month old and a locked down gcse student. It's not your age that is the problem!!

bellbaeu · 06/08/2020 22:16

@StraffeHendrik well... when you put it like that!
Never really crossed my mind!

I’ve got 4 DC. I had DC1 at 20, DC2 at 28, DC3 at 37 and DC4 at 40. Looking back at pictures from after I’d had DC4 I looked about 50.
It does get better though - I’m now 50 and feel (and look) much younger than my years. I think it’s the physical toll, lack of sleep at time to look after yourself when they’re little that’s the problem.
You’ll be a babe in 10 years 👍

Beachlovingirl · 06/08/2020 23:16

I had my third at 39. Op you still are recovering and also probably not getting the best sleep so your body will just feel tired - I was the same. But don’t worry, it will all get better and you’ll feel yourself soon enough - maybe not yet - but when the baby is coming up to 1, if not before.

I had my first at 26 and felt the same as I didn’t at 39, wasn’t an age thing for me just an adjustment thing.

Also maybe it’s time for a new mattress? I know it seems silly but it can make all the difference Smile

bellbaeu · 07/08/2020 08:23

@Bessica1970 that's for the reassurance glad your feeling good about yourself not. So life begins at 50

@Beachlovingirl I did think maybe the mattress, this one isn't that old at all though, we only got it last year and it wasn't cheap but I do think this is adding to my problem!
OH won't be happy if I ask for a new one 😬
