Ready to feed formula after 48 hours

Hi. I am a new mom and my baby is on combination diet. I am giving my baby ready to feed formula and only recently i figured out about the 48 hours rule (dumb me!).

We got a 1l ready to feed formula and we opened the bottle and kept it in fridge for 4 days. Without realising i gave baby that formula on 4th day (after 90 hours) after opening the bottle. This happened couple of days ago and baby seems to be fine.

Will it affect my baby in any ways in future?

I would have thought if anything was wrong baby would have been poorly after the feed or possibly the next day.If he is fine after a couple of days he is fine, but if you are worried you could ask your health visitor or doctor

If we drank spoiled milk, we would feel shit pretty soon after.

Id think if it was going to be a problem for your DS you would have already noticed. Squirmy/fussy like he has a sore stomach, extra bringing up of food, really runny nappies, like worse than normal in first 24 hours

Try not to worry, if it eases your mind, ring your local health line

Long term, I highly doubt it especially as he seems fine now, but again, to ease your mind call a professional.

Its natural to worry as a new mum

Just don't do it again and keep an eye out for any illness, as you would anyway. The issue with teenies is that lots of very minor illnesses can become sepsis/meningitis, so (as always best with kids) familiarise yourself with the symptoms of those and keep an eye out. I doubt you'll have a problem though.

We had similar issue. We didn't realise that the smaller bottles 200ml were 24 hours not 48 hours like the one litre. Our baby is 4 weeks old and she was quite irritable for half a day and sick one time, so we are wondering if this is what caused that Sad
So fyi if you get the smaller bottles at any point just watch out as well. Not sure why they would be different!

Thanks all!

I checked with the formula company and they said not to worry as baby is ok.
