Anyone live in Abingdon or nearby?

We are thinking of moving there next year. Atm we have ds 3.5 and dd 2 so ds will be starting school next September. My mum and one of my sisters are not impressed with the lack of a station - does it matter that much? At the moment I work three days a week (in London) but am not sure if I will give up or not as commuting would not be an option imo.

I'm in Abingdon. There's stations in Oxford (good bus service) & Didcot, I know there's a bus service to Didcot but don't know how good it is.

Brightwell thanks - do you like it there? Do you work or are you a SAHM? I might end up being one for a bit...

I'm in Abingdon too. The bus service to Oxford is viable to connect to the station. Didcot is an easy car drive from Abingdon but the bus is not really good enough as it's only a half hourly service. I agree that commuting to London and having small children would be a tall order, but going for leisure and visiting is fine, we do it a lot with our 23 month old DS.

Abingdon as far as I can work out is a small kids' paradise. Well what I mean is I find it so and don't believe other places offer the same amenities so close by. Loads to occupy a SAHM - groups, new leisure centre with brilliant facilities and a really manky but large soft play all central / easily accessible. The library is pretty good too.
