Sorry if this is a stupid question. I've BF both of my boys so I don't really know the rules with this! DS2 is 11 weeks old and been prescribed gaviscon for reflux. So far so good, but just unsure about the sterilising rule!
Doctor said to mix the powder with water. The pharmacist said that I can cook boil the water and keep it in a bottle and the water should be safe for 24 hours. There's about a teaspoon of water in the mixture! Is this correct? Ideally I would change the water every time but not possible when I'm out and as he's BF he feeds in demand so I don't know what I'll need it! 😬

Could you keep the cool boiled water in a separate container and just mix when required? Then get a new container every day? Unless I’ve read it wrong sorry please correct me! X

and just take the cooled boiled water, gaviscon sachets and separate sterilised bottle out with you? You don’t have to be overly accurate Just make it less than 1oz or take a teaspoon too? they can have a little sterilised water anyway.

I had to use gaviscon- massive pain for a breastfed baby so you have my sympathies! Mine went on it about a week or two before lockdown so actually managed to time feeds for being at home and then we couldn't go anywhere anyway, but I would take up cooled boiled water for the night feeds in one bottle and another to mix and give it with and it was fine. Mine went on it around 4 months and only needed it for about a month when she was upright a lot more so fingers crossed you don't need it for too long!

Thank you all! So if I boiled the water in the morning, should it be sterile and safe to used throughout the day? :)

Yeah definitely, is there anyway you can keep it cool so it doesn’t get hot in the car for example? Like an insulated lunch bag?
