Few days away with baby; worth it?

Hi, just after some advice /opinions please

Dh has a few days off at the end of August, our ds (first baby) will be about 8.5 months then. We're thinking about going away for a couple of days, just somewhere not too far (we're in the Midlands) but not sure...

Would it be worth it with Covid measures and an older baby? Ds is fairly easy baby (not a good sleeper but a happy chappy mostly)

Thoughts? Would you bother? If so, would you recommend anywhere or have you got any tips to make it easier??

Thanks!

It depends what you want and where really, I'd make sure it's somewhere that'll have good walks, local shops for picnic supplies etc.

I'd say go for it. It won't feel like a pre-baby holiday, but the change of scene might be nice.

Yes, I’d think it was worth it. Just having some escape from the never ending housework and having somebody cook for a change.

I would. I think a change of scenery could do most people good right now. Ours are older now (youngest is 2), but we're going away for a week at end of August. Literally just to a holiday cottage and to do walking and play in someone else's garden. Not planning to 'do' anything. I'm just sick of being here month after month after month.

We went away when our daughter was that age, to Center Parcs. It was nice x

We took dd away when she was 3m and 8m. Both times about 3 hours away. She was good as gold both times. Her next to me crib was perfect to take with us. Stuck to her routine as well as we could and she went to bed as normal

Ive just been away with my baby for a weekend. My son is 18 weeks old, so defo younger than yours but I thought it was nice. The amount of stuff I had to pack was crazy but a change is as good as a break. Id say you defo need to take a sling. The only thing we had to manipulate were car trips to coincide with naps, but it was fun otherwise! We just popped my son into the sling and got on with it 🙂

Find out whether the restaurant where you are staying is open. We had a few days away with DD (3yo, so not quite the same), but as all cafes and restaurants were shut in the area in all honesty it wasn’t much different from being at home. So a nice change of scene, but normally we’d have eaten in cafes and swum in the pool every day, and we couldn’t do that.
