Green baby poo!!!!

Help!
My little boy is 11 weeks, ebf.
He's been a bit off this week. He has been a lot more sick then normal (normally quite sickly anyway!), and his boys are now green! We had reeeaaaalllyyyy sicky day on Wednesday with lots of pooy nappies! No blood, no temp, feeding well, but he is out of sorts.
I went to the go yesterday who didn't seem concerned but we sent a sample off and he gave us baby gaviscon for the sickness.
Poos are still green though.... a dark leaf green colour and I just don't know how long this is going to last! I'm worried :( Anyone else been here?
I don't have cows milk in my diet!

Green is on the spectrum of normal.

My daughter had green poo for weeks because she wasn't feeding properly due to an undiagnosed tongue tie. As soon as we got it snipped her poop went back to normal colour and the vomiting stopped.

Extra saliva often causes green poo. Babies often get it when they start teething, something to do with extra acid in all the extra saliva.
11 weeks is early to teeth but I know someone who's baby got two teeth at 10 weeks so something to consider.

Oh wow really? I think what's alarmed me is that it just suddenly changed! I don't remember my first ever having green poo 😩

I've had two ebf babies. Green poo is pretty typical. I read that "forest colours" (yellow, green, brown) are normal and anything else (black, red, white) needs to be checked.

DoodleMcNoodle · 31/07/2020 17:45

My DS had green poo due to the high iron content in the formula he had, do you take iron supplements or anything that might be being passed on through your breast milk ?

BiBabbles · 31/07/2020 18:21

It can be normal, though when I was ebfing, I was told that - if it otherwise looks normal - it can be a sign that they need to feed longer on one side to get more hindmilk.

WitsEnding · 31/07/2020 18:22

Mine had green poo if I’d eaten too many oranges.

HelloRose · 31/07/2020 18:25

Had loads of spinach-ey poos with ds. Looked quite shocking but GP was never concerned (unless accompanied by other symptoms).

Kitkat09 · 31/07/2020 18:36

We had lots of green poo too!

november90 · 31/07/2020 20:25

Thank you for all the replies! I'm so relieved that I'm a lot of cases this has been normal! I've been so worried about my little boy!

Does he finish his feeds? I thought green loo was sometimes linked to drinking the more watery formilk and not getting enough of the richer hind milk.
Could try just feeding of one breast pre feed, so instead of offering second breast, putting back onto first to get the hind milk

kellymom.com/bf/got-milk/basics/foremilk-hindmilk/

This explains it quite well

november90 · 31/07/2020 21:45

@OverTheRainbow88 it could possibly be linked to this!
I'll try and cut a long story short... my first would only ever feed from the right side... so we did that for 17 months! No issues.
Anyway my second will feed from both, yay! But has become verrryyyy lazy on the left to the point where he o my really suckles and would never get a full feed! So I've been switching over and in hindsight he's probably full of the watery stuff at this point!
I am considering stopping feeding from that side, esp if it's causing these issues because I've also had mastits on that side so it just seems to be causing issues for me 😩

It may be worth a try for w few days at least to see if it makes a difference! I fed of one, when finished waited 5 min then offered the same boob. Then for the next feed, fed of the other, waited 5 min after finished then offered the same.

Sorry personal qu, feel free not to answer, if you only feed of one when you stopped did your boobs look similar or very diff? So my 18 month old only feeds twice a day off my right, he bites my left so stopped with that, but I’ve been expressing twice a day off that one as thought they may be wonky when I stop?

november90 · 01/08/2020 18:58

@OverTheRainbow88 yes definitely, thank you!

Haha yes I did look a little wonky from time to time... only when I was due a bug feed or if he'd missed a feed. To be honest no more wonky then I am now as that side has a better supply as he feeds off it :) it wasn't anything that particularly bothered me or that spoilt any outfits!

Sorry I meant with your 17 month old just feeding off your right, when you stopped feeding that DC all together did your right boob look more droopy ( cant think of a better word, sorry) or anything than your left which didn’t feed? I’m thinking of stopping the expressing of the left and just carrying on with the right feeding but wondering when I stop altogether if they will look different. Ooh I sound really vain now, I don’t mean to!

OverTheRainbow88 · 01/08/2020 19:13

Motherhood eh, from green poo to wonky boobs 🤣!!

november90 · 01/08/2020 19:56

@OverTheRainbow88 oh sorry I completely read that wrong 🤦🏼‍♀️😂
I honestly didn't notice any difference at all between them ☺️ Which is odd actually isn't it when you think about it, you would expect so!

Ah good! Thank you. They are both to my bully button anyway and imagining one to there and other to my knees 🤣

november90 · 01/08/2020 20:09

@OverTheRainbow88 hahahaha! That's so funny! They were both equally droopy when I stopped feeding unfortunately 😂🤦🏼‍♀️
