so this just happened. After dinner, as my mother in law was bringing the baby from bedroom to the hallroom towards my husband, and my husband sitting there doing some work . And my MIL almost fell near my husband . She has arthritis in knees :/ and fortunately she kept the baby grasped to her chest and she sat down falling.
My husband did a drama though because he felt the baby got hurt or something ? but the baby was later smiling and able to lift or turn his head as usual .
Could it be baby is hurt but we don't know ?

I fell over and actually did drop my baby when she was about that age (no arthritis, just clumsy). It was awful. I took her to a&e to get checked over just in case and she was absolutely fine, but they were very happy to check her over and it put my mind at ease. I’m sure your little one is fine but you could get them checked if you’re not sure.

How is MIL, was she hurt?

the baby will be fine and if anything would have been cushioned by your mil. Hope your mil is OK too

Baby will be fine. Poor MIL, what a shock.

I fell at work holding a child. The one I was holding was fine.

MIL is shocked too :/ as she obviously has a special fondness for her son's son.
it wasn't more like a fall, but more like she sat down suddenly as her knees buckled and the baby was perhaps startled :(
baby didn't cry and he seems to be doing regular movement as before .
could it be he's hurt in a way we don't know yet ?
i am very fearful of neck and spine :/

If you’re worried, take him to be checked over. Medical professionals would rather be safe than sorry with a young baby.

The baby will be fine. Poor MiL, I hope you checked she was ok.

He’s fine!! Babies bounce

Be more worried about your MIL.

My dh once fell off a step with ds in his arms. Ds was 9 weeks old and had tolerated the dummy in his mouth for the first time. He was facing outwards and dh actually partially landed on ds.

The dummy shattered which caused his lip to split.

He was screaming (understandable) and half his face swelled.

Went to the hospital and the doctor literally gave him a cursory look and said “he should be fine”

Gave me a pamphlet to keep an eye on concussions and that was it.

24 hours later, swelling had gone
48 hours later, not a single mark left

If your baby is alert and happy and can move all their limbs then they are fine and unhurt. I would be more worried about your mil

I’m sure your baby is fine. When my oldest was a day old, dh fell down the stairs with her. He managed to hold her up as he went and she was fine.

The same day I nearly sat on her! I put her down on the bed next to dh, went to use the toilet, can back and was so tired I forgot what I’d done with her, and nearly sat on her.

She’s 7 and has so far survived mostly undamaged. I’m sure everything is fine, maybe MIL just should hold her sitting down if she can.
