Pocket money for an 11yr old...

...is £5 per week too generous or too stingy or just about right?

i give 10. per month, but am quite stingy, and have only started this 6 months ago, was always forgetting, couldnt afford it, now it is on the basis that he empties dishwasher every day........the cutlery drawer is now a mess but, i've got used to it!

we've just started giving dd1 £10 a month too. (She spent it in a oner today!)

I pay ds £9 per month (he's 9). Will rise to £10 when he's 10, etc.

DD gets £20 a month. She turns 12 this week. She has to work hard for it though and I have been known to dock wages for jobs not done!

£2.50 a week here - with money taken off in 50p installments for bad behaviour, and the chance to earn extra money by way of extra chores.

They have to clean their rooms and one of the loos on a Saturday morning too.

OK so it sounds like we're being over generous, especially as she does no chores. Perhaps that should be the approach, make her do something useful!
