What will toddler sleep in on holiday?

Hi all,

My son will be 25 months when we go on holiday (short UK break). He is too big for the travel cot we had for when he was smaller. What is the norm for toddlers on holiday? I'm reluctant to buy another travel cot if it realistically won't last much longer but then what is the alternative? He is still in a cot at home with the sides up as he hasn't shown the slightest need to transition out. I wouldn't be opposed to buying a bed guard or something if that's the best way. Or is there something else I haven't thought of? What do others do?

Thanks!

My 2.5 year old who sleeps in a cot at home will in a single bed with a portable bed guard/rail thing on holiday. My sister who has a DC the same age has an inflatable toddler bed that looks a bit like a dinghy which they use when they go to her MIL’s house.

We bought this. It’s brilliant. A small air bed with raised sizes so they can’t fall out. Our 22 month old loves it

Thanks for the suggestions so far guys!!!

@FoxtrotSkarloey I must say I haven't tried it recently! The last time we tried must have been March and I was already thinking wow this is tight now. I actually think it's more of a weight issue because it was kind of bending a bit from his weight and he didn't look very comfortable 🤭

What accommodation will you be in? If you are having proper beds, then a portable bed rail will be fine. If camping etc, an inflatable little bed.

Rosebud1302 · 26/07/2020 22:26

@CoffeeRunner it will be an air b&b with a separate room for him so yes could either do bed rail or something on the floor. I think I'm just nervous that he would try and climb over it and fall?!

I've heard a suggestion of a cot mattress on the floor if that's not too much travel to take with you?

My first ready bed. They are inflatable and come with a sleeping bag. I'd get the official one rather than an amazon knock off from China - there have been deaths associated with the cheaper ones although I think they were all children who were too young to use the bed officially.
