Hi does anyone know how I can delete those roblox/Minecraft type videos on Amazon prime
My son has discovered those and he watches them all the time, his behaviour has worsened too and I just don’t want him watching them constantly
He is allowed to play roblox on tablet limited time though
I have set pins for Netflix, bbc iPlayer etc but cannot get rid of those awful vids on Amazon

How's he watching them? TV, kindle fire or another tablet?

Greentea93 · 27/07/2020 09:48

Take the remote control away.

Bitchinkitchen · 27/07/2020 09:50

You can't remove them from Amazon, you need to remove Amazon from the child.

Get them doing any of thousands of things other than watching Amazon Prime by uninstalling it.... Confused

Aquicknamechange2019 · 27/07/2020 10:46

@Greentea93 try setting parental controls? May need to do this from a laptop or app, but you should be able to put a PIN in place or restrict completely.

Some helpful comments here 🙄 he does actually do plenty other things. Currently he’s painting and drawing. We do daily walks, runs etc he does well academically and is very creative
Maybe saying he’s on there constantly was an exaggeration but the time (2 hours a day) he used to watch tv is replaced by these gaming videos and his behaviour is not good after I switch tv off. I just feel that if I let him he would choose that all day.
I don’t want to take Amazon prime away I just wanted a way to delete those type of videos

@Aquicknamechange2019 I’ve done all that and even contacted Amazon and that’s their advice too but they don’t seem to have any further support
I’ve set age as under 12 and they are still coming through
Thanks for trying to help

OK, well i don't think you can. I think we've all fallen into the trap of letting tech do the hard bits of parenting for us - setting blocks and PINs rather than setting actual boundaries, because it's easier than dealing with tantrums. It's not doing kids or parents any favours.

Mrsjayy · 27/07/2020 10:58

Why did you roll your eyes at pp when they suggested taking Amazon away from your son ? People have said they can't be removed maybe take some responsibility and help your son "behave " better by not allowing him watch these videos. I suspect you might be trying to stir up froth though 🙄

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 27/07/2020 11:02

In what way does your son's behaviour change and how is it connected to what he watches?

Whatthebloodyell · 27/07/2020 11:02

I hate those videos too. I caught my son watching them and told
Him To stop. He was a bit stroppy about it but now he knows he’s not allowed to watch them so he doesn’t. I’m afraid that you are just going to have to be bad cop here!

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 27/07/2020 11:05

I set limits on times and feign interest. I don't want to dismiss what he enjoys.
I'll give a heads up that there's 10 or 5 mins left and when he says he wants a bit longer he gets five mins and thinks he's won.
Compromise

netflixismysidehustle · 27/07/2020 11:15

If you won't restrict access to Prime then you have no choice but to log in each time he wants to watch Amazon prime and make sure that he sticks to the programmes that you allow.

00100001 · 27/07/2020 18:08

Well, if you refuse to solve the problem yourself by removing Prime, because, clearly you can't block those videos.... Then I have no Idea how to help you... Confused

It's like saying, you don't want DS to eat chocolate, and the try and get the shops to stop selling chocolate, but at the same time continue to buy things with chocolate in them and allow him free access to those items.... Confused

Devlocopop · 27/07/2020 18:18

This is about boundaries and rules not about Amazon.

So firstly, how old is he?
Have a set time that he can watch tv for.
Have set rule as to what he can watch.
He breaks those rules he loses the right to watch tv.

My two sons watched a lot of people playing Minecraft videos such as Stampy, my sons are now 17 and 14. They learned lots from it including electric circuits without realising it (redstone blocks). Their academic achievement is high, their attitude to learning is outstanding and praised by the schools, they do other things rather than game and watch tv. It is all about balance surely.

This reminds me of the fact that Dh wasn't allowed to watch Grange Hill, it separated him from all his mates who were allowed to watch it. Sad
