I'm sure this must have been done before - but I can't find and need advice please.
ds is 4.5 and happily toilet trained nicely over a year. He has recently decided that he would like to wee standing up, but seems to wet his hands, clothes, toilet seat, surrounding floor etc every attempt. He is only 99cm tall - very short for his age so I know he's struggling to reach.
How on earth do I teach him to do this properly?

Get him a step to stand on. Also get him to stick his stomach out so that his willy sticks over the pan as far as possible and then to hold his willy near the top, i.e. close to his body. Does he lift the toilet seat up because he should as the whole is then bigger. Some people suggest putting a cork in the toilet to aim at as it floats and won't flush away.

Don't expect miracles either - my two boys regularly wee on the floor as they don't pay attention to what they are doing.

Good luck.

hole not whole. Sorry!

He does stand on a step, but I'll get him to how his tail closer to his body. I have to constant remind him not to hold it too firmly - he's practically squishing it half the time!!.
His clothes get wet towards the end of the wee, as the flow become less, so the trajectery(sp?) decreases. Also anything gets wet when the wee first starts and it sort of sprays out in any direction. What can he do about this?

My DS2 went through of phase of taking his trousers off completely so he could get as close as poss. which was a pain and not recommended when you are out. Push his trousers down lower, passed the level of the pan, would help though. Short of lifting his willy up and really leaning forward I don't really know - drips are a problem.

Perhaps the one thing you can do it get him to crouch down so that his willy is virtually resting on the rim of the toilet, iyswim.

They can be really brutal with their appendages can't they. DS2 particularly pulls it so hard sometimes, it looks like a piece of elastic and I have no idea how he doesn't hurt himself!
