What age for highchair?

I have been looking at the Stokke Tripp Trapp. Baby is almost 3 months old so won't need for a few months yet for eating.

However, baby is already pretty strong head wise and I'm wondering if i bought the chair in the next few weeks, would he be ok at 4-5 months to start using to join us at the table with some toys? At the moment he is in the bouncer on the floor when we eat and is already getting a tad grumpy at not being able to see us easily.

DS has been in his highchair since 15 weeks to watch me/us cook/eat/etc :)

The other Stokke high chair (don't remember what it's called but not the Tripp Trapp) has a function where you can attach a bouncer to it! I think it has to be the stokke bouncer so may be an unnecessary expense for a short period of time but worth looking into.

You can probably pick up the newborn attachment for the Stokke Tripp Tripp second hand on FB marketplace or similar. My DS couldn’t sit up properly in his Tripp Trapp until about 5.5 months and even then was a bit slouchy. They do sell a cushion insert to help though.

Thanks.

I did see the newborn attachment in a store the other day, but it looks fairly small. We have a fairly long 99% baby so I think by the time it arrives in post he will have outgrown it.

He does like our current bouncer (babybjorn), it just seems he stares at underneath the table half the time as then we can bounce it at the same time to calm him when we eat.

I see the Tripp trapp has two times of cushions, one more molded and one just on back and bottom. Any recommendations of which lasts longer?

DD wanted to sit up all the time so she was in there from about 4.5 months just to play and be up high at the table with us. You'll know when he's ready, do what's right for him Smile I think they all have to say six months for safety laws. I bought one that reclined so I could put her back a bit if needed but haven't actually used that function once!

@BoopBop - thanks. yes I was thinking 6 months was probably due to regulations. Like you say, I might try and get one next month, and then its here and we can try if he seems ready to sit, and if not theres no harm in it being bought and just not used a few months if he is not
