What will get better?

I’ve heard that things are easier after 12 weeks. Can anyone say exactly what gets better? Struggling with 9 week old and lack of sleep/routine/well, everything and feel like I’m losing my sanity

They are more interesting, smile, babble etc. Maybe roll. Their cues are easier to read re milk, nappy etc I think. Sleep unfortunately completely depends on the baby so it may or may not get easier there.

Does anyone know if digestion gets better at 12 weeks?

I found closer to 4 months a real turning point for all sorts of things (happier, more engaged, less crying etc) so don't hang in for a magic change at 12 weeks.

Forget about routine would be my advice. 9 weeks is very young and they change really quickly. I don't think an established routine really kicks in until more like 6 months, but that's not to say you can't nudge closer to it with things like bedtime routines (just not at 9 weeks!).

@Atticus500 my lo had a hard time with digestion and feeding. Digestion got better around 4 months

Don’t hold onto 12 weeks as a magic milestone, as you might get disappointed. It absolutely does get easier, but it didn’t happen at 12 weeks for us. Somewhere between 4-6 months, it gradually started to get easier and took me a while to even notice how far we’d come. Digestion should start improving by around 4 months. You’ll be getting smiles, rolling over, starting to play with toys, lots of lovely stuff, but it won’t happen overnight. Hang in there!

Re: routines, we didn’t have anything too rigid at 3/4 months however my baby was very sleep sensitive and I found I have to be quite strict with his awake windows to prevent overtired hysterics. We got a lot of evening screaming and it took me a while to work out that he was simply ready for an earlier bedtime. Sometime in the third month, we started putting a bath/feed/7pm bedtime routine in place and he was happier for it. I was surprised as it did seem very young for a proper bedtime, but it worked for him.

Digestion certainly better at 5 months even more so at 6 month, but not good with the purées. Small bits of solids or mashed banana ok. Anything runny and it’s comes up a bit with the milk burbs and then stains ( posetting? )

SOME babies roll at 4 months, the average is 6 months.

For me my son got easier to get down for naps and he wanted feeding less. He also started amusing himself under his play gym for a bit. The 1st few months are so tough.
