Does my 5mo need a dream feed?

Hello, FTM here! Was chatting with a friend who expressed surprise that my 5 month old didn’t have a dream feed. It’s got me wondering if I should be doing one?

DC currently has last feed sometime between 7.30pm and 8pm then sleeps until 5 or 6am.

So, introduce a dream feed or keep going as I am?!

Any issues with their weight? If not, I would never have done this and risked waking her up!

No weight issues, in 6-9 month clothes already!

In that case I wouldn't bother. They'll wake if hungry. My DD slept a straight 7/8 hours from about 2-12 weeks, then had a few months of multiple wake ups, then dropped some feeds, then started waking for feeds again. I think she just did what she needed and I wouldn't have added in any feeds she wasn't waking for.

Thanks for your response! I did think a hungry baby would wake but you start doubting yourself don’t you? 😊

I never did a dream feed. Is it something that has its origins in Gina Ford or does the idea predate her?

The idea of feeding a sleeping baby really baffled me. I think it can be a difficult habit to break as they get older but I'm sure it works for some people.
