Stupid FTM baby sleep question

Hi all, I'm due in a few weeks and have a stupid question. How do I 'tuck' my baby into sleep? Swaddles? Blankets? I find the advice confusing and midwife is useless, haven't heard from HV yet. Baby will be in Moses basket during day and next to me at night

I have a love to dream swaddle - is this ok to use? Or extra large muslins, cellular blankets and a sleeping bag but didn't think you could use those with a new born? Aware feet to cot end - does this apply to the next to me as well?

Swaddles, large muslins and sleeping bags are all fine but make sure they can't come loose. Tuck all loose ends under the mattress. Feet to foot at all times unless there are no coverings at all. Sleeping bags can be safely used as soon as baby's head is too big to pass through the neck hole, otherwise you risk them slipping inside it.

As an aside though, it depends somewhat on the time of year. In summer, mine generally just used a babygro/onesie with a vest underneath. Some nights she was just in a vest- you need to adjust for the ambient temperature in the room.

Darn it, sorry, first line has an error. It should say, 'Swaddles, large muslins and cellular blankets are all fine but make sure they can't come loose.'

Clearly, I'm not awake yet!

I love Love To Dream swaddles, my son really liked them! Sleeping bags usually have a weight limit on them, I think generally not below 8lbs.

When my baby was tiny I used to swaddle him and put a cellular blanket over him. Remember 'feet to foot', which means when you're using a blanket you're babies feet need to be at the foot of the bed to stop baby wriggling under the blanket. Once the baby is big enough to be in sleeping bags you dont need to do that anymore.
