DD (15mths) has just started a new habit of going into the same corner of the room and squating a little when she is going for a number 2. Also if you say, are you having a number 2, she says yes. Could this mean she is ready for potty training? And if she is, how is it good to start this?

Have to say that 15 months seems VERY young to me. Is she showing any other signs of being ready?

No, just those. Maybe I should read a book on this, but what are the key signs?

Ohhh got to try and remember now! Are her peeing/pooing habits regular? Does she want her nappies changed almost as soon as she's pooed/peed? Does she understand difference between wet and dry, clean and dirty etc? Does she follow you to the toilet and seem interested in what you are doing? Can she pull up and down pants or other clothes?

You'd never guess I've just copied all that from a book!

Also says that generally children not physiologically ready until about 20 months at earliest as their bladder control is not developed enough before that age...

For me, when they can say "I need a wee/poo" (must be able to know both) and can pull down/pull up their own trousers without assistance, they are ready.

I have learnt from experience!

ds 16 mo poo's on potty to get him used to idea that its not normal for him to poo in his pants, he does potty 'sign' (one we invented) and will go and fetch potty most times but hes not there yet as notnowbernard says he can't pull his nappy down to go, also he's not talking yet so we only go on signing

if you know when she is going take her cue and try and introduce a potty, she might still take a while but saves you changing a nappy and wiping off loads of poo - since ds has been on potty we rarely have dirty nappies - good luck
