Blood in nappy

I've just changed my baby's nappy and when I wiped her genitals there was a smear of blood on the wipe. I did it a couple of times and it did look like she either had some bloody discharge or a bleed. I bathed her and there wasn't any more but I've never seen anything like this and the doctor and HV are all closed for tonight.
She is fine in herself, except for teething. No fever or the like but she has been clingy the past few days.
Has anyone else ever had this? How worried should I be?
I will telephone doctor first thing in the morning

How old is she - assume not newborn if teething?

My son had a blooded nappy after a bad bout of constipation - it was watery and the way the nappy absorbed it looked worse.

Is it nappy rash/ezcema that got scratched?

My son’s constipation and nappy rash are both bad when teething

Also - only cos I’ve been there - are you should blood was from her And not ie from A cut on your finger?

Many new baby girls can have their first menstral cycle which sounds similar. This happened to my friend & she panicked as no one had told her this. Not sure how young baby is?

Is she very young? This can be normal in newborn baby girls

I agree with PP, baby girls can have some bleeding from "periods"

Was it a lot? Or just a tiny bit?

I would keep an eye on it until tomorrow. If it happens again then go to the doctor.

She's seven months.
She has had constipation and tummy troubles since birth but never any blood before. The blood was coming from her genitals I think rather than her bottom. I don't think it was in her urine because the actual nappy didn't have blood in it as such, there was maybe a tiny spot at the front when I looked again and also she seemed to have done a wet fart as there was a mark in it.
I was letting her play without her nappy on before bath when I noticed a red mark (I thought it was a rash) and so I wiped and it was clearly blood. So not dripping but when I wiped again there was more. I don't know if it was coming from her urethra or her vagina. I'm also worried that earlier when she did a big poo I was too vigorous in cleaning her (the poo goes absolutely everywhere) and I've cut her, or the poo has given her an infection (I suppose like cystitis)
As part of weaning we are now in dairy and she had yoghurt for breakfast so it would make sense if it was from her bottom but when I wiped it there wasn't any blood
Also about half an hour after the bath I had another wipe and there was the faintest trace of blood on the wipe again. Obviously I don't want to keep checking her nappy as she's asleep now but I am so very worried.
She's never had nappy rash and I always use a barrier cream but she is a chubbier baby so now I'm also wondering if there is a rash in the folds of her genitals - they did look a bit red but I don't really have anything to compare to how red they should be. All pics I've seen of nappy rash show the visible skin as inflamed

I've spoken to the doctor and taking DD in at 5 to get checked over. No more blood thankfully overnight but still no clue what's caused it.

In case anyone has the same thing and finds this thread, it turned out to be a tiny tear between her bottom and vagina, most likely from straining to poop with the constipation.
