Sharing a room

Hello,

I wanted to ask if any of your kids are sharing or had to share a room when they were smaller/when a new baby arrived.

We're in a 3 bedroom house but do have a nanny and she would like to stay until 2022 (she's very happy here and knows we're TTC no 2). We haven't actually actively started trying but will be as of next month. She's actually properly become part of the family, I was very sceptical about this at first but strangely, she's slotted right in.

Anyway, this would mean the baby and my son would have to share a room, age difference will be about 2 1/2 years - bearing in mind it may take a few months, he's 18 months now.

Our son was moved into his own room at 6 months but didn't sleep through until about 14-15 months and up until 12 months, he regularly slept in our room from about 2-3am in the morning until wakey wakey time.

Financially, we will be able to look for a new/bigger house 4-5 bedrooms in about August/September 2022.

Let me know your thoughts. I wouldn't want to delay TTC but it would be nice to hear some success and stories as well as families where the ride was more bumpy.

My DDs shared a room when small (20 month age gap). DD2 was mostly in our room until 2 years old.

If you concieve quickly and had a baby when your son is 2.5, then kept baby with you until a year, 3.5 and 12 months will be fine sharing a room. Mine enjoyed the company until the eldest was 8.

They will be fine OP, lots of children share and enjoy it. DH shared with his brother until they were 11 & 9 and then camped in the garden together most nights during the summer according to him.

There’s 30 months between my two and they share a room, despite us having 3 bedrooms. We need a spare bed, and dedicated office space.

We’ve had no issues at all. But they’ve never known any different.
