Should I dream feed now? Help!

Baby has been sleepy today and has only had three feeds (and 580mls) of formula. He’s 11 weeks and should be having at least 760mls a day I believe (which he normally does).

He’s currently in a deep sleep - should I wake him to fit in one more feed for today or leave him to wake up naturally?

I hate to wake a sleeping baby but am worried about his lack of milk today!

Sadly he’ll probably wake himself during the night. That’s always what I found anyway if there had been refusal during the day,

If you're worried dream feed him. Have you done it before? So don't wake him up, pick him up and bottle/boob in, rub chin to get him to suck. At least get some in him. Good luck!

Thanks. If I pick him up he will almost certainly wake fully (always does). But I think I’ll have to as 580mls is very low.

You have two choices - leave and see when he wakes or pick up, feed and put back down without waking. If he was really hungry he wouldn't be in a deep sleep now. Depends on what your normal routine looks like. I wouldn't worry too much. If he is hungry he will wake. I found mine would take more some days than others...At 11 weeks he will be fine whichever.

I never had to wake DD up to dream feed her, id just lift her out her crib and pop the bottle in and shed drink no problem and then put her back to bed when she popped off the bottle. I always did it to top her up as she was and is terrible for not drinking her bottles

I'd leave it personally; daily intake is all well and good but I always liked to look at the average over the week and not get too focussed on individual days. I'm sure he will let you know when he's hungry!

Babies don't read the guidelines so just east what they need. Appetites change daily, just as ours do. If he's hungry, he'll let you know.

Now, step away from the books/ guidelines/ 'rules' and respond to your baby. You know him best!
