Recurring nappy rash

DS is 11 weeks old and keeps getting a rash. We always change him quickly and I've been putting on a rash cream but it doesn't seem to ever go properly.
I have a feeling he's possibly allergic to something in my diet as he always has mucous in his poo and is very gassy but pediatrician said this is normal for ebf babies. She also told me I was inventing things when I showed her the rash! Edited by MNHQ to remove the photo
He occasionally gets reflux. I'm not sure if his poo is acidic? Or a yeast infection?
Has anyone else had this and can help me please?

My 7mo has had a similar peri anal rash since very young.
So far we have found he is severely allergic to egg and dairy, so I'm guessing he reacted through my breastmilk to these.
If you look up CMPA, you may find it resonates.
Unfortunately my GP also told me not to worry and to continue to eat dairy while I breastfed (despite the frequent mucus/bloody poos and severe eczema).

My nephew used to get a nappy rash from certain nappy brands and wet wipes. Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment, always really helped to clear up the rash.

Yep try yellow metanium to get rid then we use the white barrier cream to stop it coming back - but if you've already tried this it could be something else, ring your HV maybe?

Try canesten - it could be fungal nappy rash.

Megzmoo · 15/07/2020 21:29

Hi my little girl is almost 6 weeks old and has had pretty much the same rash which flares up and down, she had a swab from gp and they said it was not thrush, however gave us canasten just in case, it hasn't really helped!

We are currently just using cotton wool and warm water and baby Vaseline as a barrier cream every change. Every time I change her bottom I leave her nappy off for 20 minutes and lay her on her play mat with a dry nights mat under her bottom just in case of accidents! It seems to really be helping and finally beginning to clear!

My health visitor also recommended using a bit of coconut oil in the bath so we are using the child's farm version!

Metanium the yellow one.

I'd rethink that photo too.

Egg whites. Make a little pot, keep it covered & in the fridge.

Thank you for all your replies, I tried a few things and in the end coconut oil seemed to make it much better, but still not 100% gone. I've also cut dairy out of my diet but stools are still mucousy. He's teething so possibly that's what's causing it.

@Grumpet glad the rash has got a bit better! Dd has also cleared now, I agree about the coconut oil, also smells lovely and good for cradle cap Smile

We finally conquered perianal rash using a product called Ilex. You can buy it direct, they also sent a free sample tube before purchasing which was helpful. Vaseline over the top and cleared in a couple of days! It’s amazing stuff.
