i had my dd last week, weighing in at 5lb 3 oz. i have brought different nappies to try but all look huge and likely to leak so still using dis ones right now. i want to start my wasables asap but no idea which ones to start with and when.
i have prefolds, mothercare shaped terries, and totbots. any advice would be great, she is very little, see profile.

New Thread for the loan thing started

ceolas, I would be intested in the size 0 wraps, then can pass them on to SGK as my dd is growing quickly.
I cant afford to buy any wraps even with 70% refund.

Lisa, the Kissaluvs are newborn nappies. They should fit 5-15lbs. You can have them if you want.

I also have 3 Rikki XS wraps I can pass on in a week or 2 (DD3 still fitting into them at 10lbs) but I'd like them back - just in case!

lisad - i have put 2 nb wraps in teh post for you. tehy are meant to fit from 6lbs so might be a wee bit big for her but maybe wrapping tightly woud do?? it would be great if you could offer them on mumsnet again when you are done or see if flame wants them for her scheme?

My ds was 5.5oz and we had him in newborn cotton bottoms prefolds with a nappi nippa. They still looked a bit on the big side, but there were no leaks.
I recommend the newborn cotton bottoms wraps, they fit even the most ridiculously thin legs.
If you would like me to send you one please email me maisiemog at gmail dot com.
They are soooo cute those teeny babies. Lucky you!!!

I have some cotton bottoms wraps and prefolds, so will try those later. Thanks, didnt think about that as they look sooo big.

They are fine once they are folded. I used to put them on like this
The newborn wraps are quite small if I recall correctly - the first months were a bit of a blur, actually the first year was a bit of a blur, actually it is still quite blurry.

The nappy/wrap loan idea sounds great, but just to keep options open can I suggest something else?

Junior Joy wraps are incredibly cheap, and while not fabulous quality or particularly sylish, they are great for tiny babies cos they have a little dip for the cord, and they are very small and did a wonderful job for the first few weeks with DD (6lb 1oz at birth).

CindersNeedsHelp · 02/10/2007 13:03

Will the JJ wraps go down to 5lb babies, do you think? And what nappy did you use these over?

littlekiwibaby · 02/10/2007 14:24

Junior joy wraps work over prefolds on little babies. If you have a fairly thick nappy though you wouldn't really need a wrap for the first few days.

derah · 02/10/2007 14:46

I used the JJ wraps over bimbles and kissaluvs, both in size 0. I also had Motherease Rikkis in XS, and they worked well too. I just got the JJ's in because I only had 2 Rikkis and dd kept getting them all mucky so I needed more wraps! And I needed something cheap.

Hope you find something that works for you.

liad - did the wraps arrive??

lisad123 · 03/10/2007 11:52

sorry wee, yes they arrived yesterday. Thanks so much, will try them soon as disposables run out. I didnt get a chance to email you as spent most of day and night at hospital.

Thanks again

Lisa
