MMR preschool booster before holiday

DD is due to get her preschool MMR booster this week but we have also planned to go away for a little holiday in August.

Is it a bad idea for her to have it now? I know there can be side effects that arise 1-3 weeks afterwards and I don't want to be far from our gp if we might need them, and also for it to spoil the holiday.

How common and severe are the side effects usually? I mean I know they COULD happen but just wondering what the general average experience is like?

TIA

No reaction here other than very minor (37.7) temperature that day.

Reaction is fairly common but it’s nearly always mild and most people would probably just have a slightly warm baby who is a bit grizzly. Usually seven to nine days after the jabs is the worst of it. It’s rare to not be something that a few doses of paracetamol doesn’t rectify.

My DS reacted really badly at the MMR etc he had at 12/13 months but was fine after his preschool boosters.

Stock up on calpol/ibuprofen just in case.

The nurse told me that as the preschool is a booster, a reaction is less common than the first time. My 3 year old had no reaction this time.

Great, this is all very reassuring thank you! 🙏🏼

My daughter had a mild reaction at 13 months but no reaction at all following the preschool booster x

I guess the only thing is a few people are saying their child got a temperature....now technically even if you think it’s due to the vaccination you ought to self isolate until you can get the child tested should this happen...might be annoying if that happened the day before you were due to leave...
