What do you put bin your child's lunchbox

Usually DD has school dinners. But it's looking like got dinners might not be going ahead for the autumn term. Everything is random. She hates butter so it's no good ordering a school packup.

What sort of things do you put in your child's lunchbox? I presume chopped up fruits and yoghurt will go warm? Or are they usually ok?

What fillings do you put in cobs and sandwiches? Do you do wraps. Usually wraps say to heat them so do you do that part if you are making it the night before?

Thanks in advance. Hoping the school dinners come back as she enjoyed them!

I think simple is best. They can't go in fridge

Ham and cheese roll or sandwich - travels better than wrap
Pot of fruit/raw veg - fine in heat
Squeeze tube/pouch of yogurt - freeze, will defrost by lunch and keep other contents cooler

If you wrap the sandwich in foil and keep it in the fridge before they leave, the foil will keep it cool in the lunchbox.

Sandwich ideas:
Cheese and pickle/ham and pickle
Cheese and ham
Hummus and salad
Egg and mayo
Cheese and onion
Tuna mayo

Things like raisins, dry biscuits, fruit

I use small cool packs for ds’s packed lunches. I have a few which I keep in the freezer, pop one in his lunch bag in the morning on the way out the door and it stays frozen/cold till lunchtime so stops everything going warm and horrible. He has an insulated lunch bag as well which helps.

My DD is only 2 so rarely has a pack lunch but had one recently. I also got an insulat3r lunch box you can put a frozen ice pack in the bottom and have her;
Turkey and coleslaw sandwich (her choice)
A tangerine
Small amount of grapes
Fruit juice
Miniature milky way.
She came home with everything bar the grapes and half a sandwich Hmm

Wraps don’t need heating? Just normal ones like this?

Unless you’re in a heatwave, everything is fine to warm up a bit for a few hours.

Fruit doesn’t need to be eaten at a chilled temperature at all.

Ours have had a mixture of
Wraps, sandwiches and rolls with cheese, salad, ham, chorizo, hummus.

Then oatcakes and crackers with cheese.

Yoghurt

Hummus with crudités to dip in

Sometimes a biscuit or mini pepperami or cheese string or half a pack of mini cheddars in a tub

Or a pasta salad

Chopped fruit or dried fruit.

But I’m sure once you start thinking you’ll be on a roll (or cob Grin).

Sandwich, roll, cream cheese or pastrami bagel, wrap, pasta salad or pitta bread
Cubes of cheese, chopped up sausage, hard boiled egg, Babybel or Frube
Cherry tomatoes, slices of pepper or carrot/cucumber sticks
Grapes, satsuma, apple, mini banana, pot of dried apricots or a box of raisins
Rice cakes, breadsticks, cereal bar, cheese biscuits or popcorn

If I have time I make up individual portions of fruit in jelly in plastic Tupperware pots and on very rare occasions I make a stash of mini frittatas in a muffin tin. They're always popular!
Some other things I’ve being meaning to make for their packed lunch:

Rice cakes
Cheesy flapjacks www.british-leeks.co.uk/recipe/leek-cheese-flapjacks.php

Regarding sandwich fillings:
Salami is popular with DS, but I can’t imagine it without butter. I feel that you need something moist without butter like tuna mayo, pate, humous or cream cheese.

If she likes hot food you could give her some pasta in a Thermos Funtainer. It’s s food flask made for children. Mine has things like macaroni cheese which she much prefers to sandwiches and it’s easier too.
