So my son is 3.5yr old and size 8 pampers nappies are just way too small now.
Health Visitor says to use pull ups but i have looked into this and they are no where near absorbant as a nappy and he is no where near potty training stage yet due to GDD and other factors.

I have looked into nappy pants but i cant find anything bigger than these size 8 pampers.

Where can i get a bigger size normal nappy?!!! HELP!

Try searching online for nappies for children with SEN or autism (can take longer to potty train). I know they exist in the cloth nappy world, so there must be a disposable version.

difficulttod · 08/07/2020 11:53

Could you try reusable nappies, do they go any bigger? I know I bought some bamboo liners for my 2 year old to wear at night time in his disposable and they’re huge, and it’s not as if you’d have a lot of changes at that age so not as much washing.

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 09/07/2020 17:41

Are these any good? They were designed after requests for nappies for older children who weren’t ready to potty train yet.

Pull ups for kids, but yes may need more regular changes as not so good. Alva Juniour are a washable nappy I used, and there are other washable for this age. But you can get some for people with learning disabilities HV may be able to tell you about these.

june2007 · 09/07/2020 17:47

Sorry ignore learning disabilities ans having toileting issues may be nothing to do with learning disability. I was just thinking of the children I know who use them.

Esspee · 09/07/2020 17:50

There are disposables for adults so presumably manufacturers make what you need. Ask your pharmacist perhaps?

Boringnamechanging · 09/07/2020 17:53

I have no experience of size 3 as we didn't need them (used size 1 and 2 with motherease airflow cover and they are great) but are these worth a try? Cloth nappy

The nappy lady gives great advice to so she may have more suggestions.

If your son gets DLA, he might qualify for free nappies; worth investigating.

I'm in a similar situation and had to put my 3.5yo into terry nappies, thet take a bit of getting used to but work great and wish I'd started using them sooner.

mommybear1 · 09/07/2020 19:11

I'd also suggest the cloth nappies I know they go into bigger sizes my DS is very tall for his age (2.5) toilet trained now but we struggled to get nappies to fit before potty training. The cloth nappies were great on sizing he'd also gone passed Pampers size 8.

Rollercoaster1920 · 09/07/2020 19:20

Do the pyjama nappies with spiderman on not fit your child? My son was wearing them until quite old and he was big for his age.

Hi Thanks for all the replies, I was told by the Health Visitor my son will qualify for free nappies when hes 5, Which is an absolute joke, surely it should go by size/weight (Hes huge) and/or other factors so i am left to struggle. HV wasn't much help anyway didn't offer any support and think she just wanted to get off the phone :(

The Tesco nappies have some bad reviews so im not certain what to do on that.

Cloth nappies im about to research into, not a clue what im doing but im going to google!

Try Tena Direct - they do a range of pull ups called Libero. If you contact them they should send out a few samples so that you know which size is best.

Mummy2Mase · 09/07/2020 19:31

@rollercoaster1920 Are these a normal absorbancy like a normal nappy if so then might give them a go, thanks!

I'm sorry your son doesn't qualify for free nappies; it varies from trust to trust. Perhaps www.eric.org.uk/childrens-continence-pathway might be able to offer advice.

Tena junior what we got for our son same issues. It is right they don't qualify for free nappies till they are 5.

Bupkis · 09/07/2020 20:36

Ask for a referral to Continence Services (HV, GP or paed can do this) - they can offer support, and nappies (depending on area as it's by age).

Whilst waiting for referral these stock larger size products (my ds has Libero Up & Go) www.incontinenceshop.com/childrens-products/nappies

Timepasses · 09/07/2020 20:41

My son is 10 and wears pads. We use the Tesco junior nappies when we run low on the pads supplied by the continence service. I've never had any problems with them

Rollercoaster1920 · 09/07/2020 22:31

Those Spiderman nappies are designed for night time so have more capacity than day time nappies.

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 09/07/2020 22:41

The Tesco nappies seem like marmite, people either love or hate them. Maybe just buy one pack and give them a go for yourself? Might at least bridge the gap while working out a long term solution even if you don’t stick with them.

coronafiona · 09/07/2020 23:02

Use the nighttime pull-ups they go up to age 15. My son is only just dry at night he just turned 7.

Hey! Did your son naturally grow out of it or did you seek help? My son is coming up to 6 and I think he probably goes about 3 times during the night still. He is an incredibly deep sleeper but I think he also has a very small bladder!
