Hi all. FTM here. Sorry if this is in the wrong bit?

Trying to be money-savvy and be organised!

Looking at a capsule wardrobe for my little boy, he is 12 months old in July. I was wondering what you all recommend for a capsule wardrobe for 12-18m? I would preferably like at least 7 days of outfits so I’m assuming at least 7 short sleeve bodysuits and so on so forth. We plan to wash at least twice a week as we are doing cloth nappies :-) I would also prefer leggings and comfy clothes for him. Thanks all x

Ooh interesting, we have way too many clothes because I like to not have to worry about washing too often.

Remember 1 in July means 12-18 should in theory cover summer AND winter.

So maybe 7 short sleeved body suits, 7 long sleeved body suits, 7 short sleeved t-shirts, 4 cardogans/jumpers, 5 leggings, 5 trousers, 1 light jaclet/coat, 1 winter coat, 1 pair sandals/pumps, 1 pair wellies, 7 socks,

Be aware normal trousers won't fit over cloth. This was a surprise to me as I'd dressed baby in leggings and grows until 1!

PPs list is decent. I'd perhaps swap long vests for long sleeved t shirts to wear over short vests if you want to save more. Also t shirts don't need to popper under the nappy.

Depending on how well they walk, a 18-24 waterproof suit may be useful near winter.

DS is 12 months in August. I've found we need more than 7 of things that he wears on a daily basis (mainly vests/short sleeved body suits) as he is still very capable of weeing over himself / pouring a cup of water down his front / smearing porridge everywhere. We have at least 10 vests and then fewer of the additional bits. I found that buying mostly from the same shop means that lots of things work together. DS is also starting nursery in Sept and I know that I need to provide three complete changes of clothes for them to keep there. The other thing I've found is that DS can't really wear long sleeved sleepsuits anymore because he's so active that they just end up getting caught up and frustrate him when he's trying to crawl around. He often ends up with both of his legs in one of the legs of the sleepsuit. So we've had to move to pyjamas instead which seem to be a lot easier for him.

Oops I'd forgot pajamas.

Yes a splash suit instead or as well as a winter cost. We had a great one from Lidl, was waterproof trousers with bracers so worked in addition to a coat

I've always tried to keep my DS' "wardrobe" small - I think it's easier after 1 as they tend to grow more slowly/sizes last longer so you get more wear out of them. I usually have 7-9 each of trousers (Inc leggings and jeans), short sleeve t-shirts, long sleeve t-shirts, vests (when he used to wear them), socks and PJ's. Then probably 4-5 jumpers/hoodies, a lightweight waterproof for spring/autumn and then 2 winter coats as they just get filthy on playgrounds, couple of pairs of shorts for the warmer weeks/holiday, one pair of shoes and one pair of wellies. That fills two drawers of a chest of drawers (apart from the coats and shoes!) and everything is mix & match.

I find Sainsbury's leggings/joggers have extra room in the bum so might be worth a try if you're using cloth.

My kids were in 12-18 months clothes for the grand total of 3 months. Don't necessarily expect to get six months out of things OP.

I used to like long sleeved t-shirts for mine when they were toddlers, rather than jumpers/sweatshirts. They're easier to layer with long sleeve/short sleeve vests and a hoody/jumper if needed.

I'd perhaps swap long vests for long sleeved t shirts to wear over short vests if you want to save more it's cos I did it the other way, and put short sleeved tips over long sleeved nappies
