Sleep 13 month old

Hello first time posting. I’m after some advice. My Daughter is 13 months old and sleeps well overnight from 7pm - 6am, by 8:30am she is exhausted, there is no way I can keep her awake any longer as she is beside herself. She will then sleep until 11am. After having lunch at 12, she will then be tired again and back asleep from 2-4pm before having dinner at 5, bath at 6, then bed again at 7. To me it seems like she is sleeping a lot? But also means we can’t leave the house much as she will only sleep in her cot and if out and about will just scream as she’s tired but too overstimulated. Is this normal for a 13 month old? She also seems to drink excessive amounts of water to the point in changing her nappy hourly as she is soaked through to her clothes. Any advice welcome!

That does seem like a lot of sleep. I would get her checked out with the gp. Especially as you mention thirst too. Just to be on the safe side. Could just be a sleepy baby though, some definitely like sleep more than others!

That’s great thank you. I was thinking of taking her to the GP - I just didn’t want to seem a neurotic mother! But something is telling me the sleep and water consumption is connected.

seems excessive to me too OP. By 13 months my LO was either having two small naps (one c. 10.30 after waking at 5, and the other about 2) or she’d have a 3hr nap straight after lunch. I would ask your gp

That does sound like a lot of daytime sleep But I have no idea if it’s ok or not. At that age DS was having about 2-3 hours in the day across two naps (he was also super sleepy in the morning so would nap about 2.5 hours after waking And then again at 2pm-ish). He also drinks a lot and has heavy nappies!
I wanted to show some solidarity for the cot napping though as DS is the same!
We’d usually go out for lunch or for a picnic/walk between the two naps. If we really had to be somewhere then I’d try to make sure he had his morning nap, pushed back a bit, and just deal with the crying in the afternoon! Sometimes he would drop off in the car for 20 mins if he was exhausted but not very often. He’s never slept in the pram and hates being cuddled to sleep / rocked.

@Abouttimemum thank you. It’s so nice to know I’m not the only one who has a baby who will only sleep in their cot! Thank you for your reply.

Also OP we limited a lot of our plans around nap time, I think it’s also a part first baby thing. Like my sister used to say to me, if I had another child to say pick up from school id have no choice but to get out the house.
