Formula bottles clogging

Me and my DH are premaking formula bottles and keeping them in the fridge for when we need them. But we've started to notice that our DS isn't always getting a proper feeding because the teet of the bottle is clogged with formula. Even tho we are making them with the boiled water giving it a really good shake to ensure it's all mixed up and then shaking again before giving it to baby.

Is it because we're not reheating it before giving him it? We did read that if baby didn't mind it cold then it's safe to give cold but now I'm second guessing it all. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

OP, we made up bottles exactly like you when DD was younger (Making up, putting in fridge and serving cold). My DH had to shake them though when we made them to stop it clogging up (I often made cloggy bottles). Once she was 6 months we switched from Aptamil to another brand and really noticed how smooth the bottles were. Have you tried changing brands?

@DoAsDreamersDo we're using cow and gate and have been since he was born. He struggled to take to breast feeding for the first week so had to use that to ensure he was getting everything he needed. So kind of scared to try another brand Incase he has a reaction.

I've done my research and bit the bullet and bought a perfect prep machine. So far so good 😊

Another one that used a perfect prep from when DD was 3 days old. Used the tommee tippee filters, changed as soon as the light came and rigorously followed the cleaning instructions and no issues whatsoever. Perfect temperature and a ready made bottle in no time!
I can't advise on your situation as I'm pregnant with second and genuinely don't know how to make a bottle up Confused should probably look into it!

Are you using aptamil by any balance? We had this issue and switched to hipp organic. So much better. Don't even need to shake....just swirl.

I would also 500% endorse a perfect prep machine. The NHS cannot endorse them as they cannot ensure people clean them properly hence babies could pick up things but if you clean it when it says and change the filter when the light comes on they are totally safe. We nearly didn't get one for the same reason and now have one in babies room for nights and one downstairs for day (got one at a charity shop lol)

Absolutely love our perfect prep. I clean it through weekly with sterilising fluid/tablet and pipes are fine. When out and about I mimic perfect prep, which you could do at home. Not sure how many oz you make but I make 7oz. So when out I take a flask of boiling water and 5oz cool boiled water. Add 2oz boiled to the bottle, tip formula in, shake and add the 5oz cool water and shake again. That's exactly what the PP is doing. So you could keep a flask of boiling water at home and a bottle of cool boiled and do the exact same.
