Am I a constant nag?

DD is 5 and has ALL the energy in the world, I wish she could give me some!

I'm just feeling guilty as feel as though I'm constantly telling her off.

As in sitting watching a film this morning and she was constantly kicking her legs against the sofa. (And commentating the whole way through lying upside down)

Now she is throwing a cushion about and sliding on and off the sofa.

It may even possibly be only me this irritates?? Do other people tell their kids to stop doing these types of things? Or should I just ignore it and pick my battles?

I don't tell her off every time as feel like I'm constantly telling her off, and when I do it's not so much tell her off it's just 'stop that please' 'I've already asked you 3 times please stop'

Sorry for the ramble, don't know why it annoys me so much!

Why is it a problem if she want to talk to you or move around?

milcmxxx · 01/07/2020 18:59

Try your best to not tell her off, kids are kids and need to be moving around, nothing wrong with it it’s better than them sitting still! It’s just play, they need to play. Fair enough tell her off if she’s being naughty but sounds like she’s just being a kid x

I don't think I'd be too keen on throwing things or furniture climbing, but kicking her legs and talking to you!? How dare she!

OP, she's 5. Five.

Watching a film is probably too long for her to concentrate for on? I would go for two episodes of something more age appropriate?

And let her be active. She needs it.

Throwing a cushion round would annoy me if it was likely to break something but the rest of it is normal 5 year old behaviour.

AnneLovesGilbert · 01/07/2020 19:10

Maybe she was bored? Does she get to do much activity? Whose idea was the film?

She wasn’t hurting herself or anyone else, I’d try and leave the telling off for things that really matter.
