Do you have a toddler who talks constantly?

First let me say that I’m not worried about it, just curious!

My son is just over 2 and he talks non-stop. Not always to anyone in particular, sometimes just to himself. It’s like he’s decided he has to keep up a running commentary of everything he is doing - stuff like “Drink. Water. Put. Cup. Down. Stand. Up. Play. With. Friend”. When he’s not doing that, he is talking about a minor character from Peppa Pig who he is inexplicably obsessed with. He talks to complete strangers about this character and of course they have no idea what he’s talking about. (Partly because they don’t speak English- we live overseas).

Does anybody else have a toddler like this? I have 2 kids but he is my first so I have no idea what is or isn’t “normal”. But I’ve noticed that most of my friends’ children - all of whom are a bit older than him - hardly talk at all. They just get on with playing without having to tell anybody about it!

Yes. She's now 10 and still doesn't stop! The only time she's quiet is when she's got food in her mouth. Even when she's asleep she still talks.

Both my 3 and 4 year olds talk all day long especially the 3 year old and she also has a running commentary, sometimes its things she's heard elsewhere too like at nursery, once shes home she will just randomly go Alfie, kind hands please, Rosie, please could you pick up those toys its time for lunch/carpet time etc I used to think that was abit odd but now I just think it must be her processing things, shesnot been at nursery during lockdown and she still talks all day long without a break!

@Cattenberg Mine randomly quotes stuff too, e.g. "I'm never talking again! Chatterbox here, chatterbox there!" (Peppa Pig/Susie Sheep) or "Sit straight! Don't talk!" (Snail & the Whale). :)

Mine didn't say a word until he was 2 and then he has talked NON STOP every since lol.. he's 6 now and he is the chattiest little
guy!! I always joke that he should host a radio show when he grows up bc he could
talk forever about anything. My other son is the strong silent type, likes to give one word answers and is very quiet most of the time.

My 5 year old talks constantly except when she is watching Netflix. 24 /7 during lock down it can be difficult but on the whole it's ok. I am afraid some times I have tuned out 🙉

My DS who's 7 is even chatting away when he brushes his teeth and when he's alone in bed!

My 6 year old hasn't stopped talking since the moment he realised he could talk! He quite often narrates his dreams when he's asleep which is,erm, interesting....

we have one next-door to us never fucking shuts up it's constant ( no issues).
somedays ether sit inside or go out as can't stand it .After being at work for 10 hours all I want is to sit and have 5 minutes in the garden with a brew and all you can fucking hear is the kid next door .
Yes we all have to live together but this just totally dominates the outside space .
