Which bath products are best for baby?

I bathed my baby (and washed his hair) in nothing but water for the first 7 weeks, but think I may need to start using bubble bath and shampoo now he’s 8 weeks old. I’ve used Johnson’s a few times but am worried about all the chemicals.

Are there any lovely natural products that you’d recommend that won’t be too harsh on baby’s delicate skin?

Johnsons caused my ds to have eczema so I've avoided ever since. I find aveeno baby range really gentle, it smells lovely, like a baby should if that makes sense, and hasnt causes any skin issues. Childs farm is okay as well but a bit pricey I think for what it is

I think the Johnsons baby bath stuff cause a bit of mild eczema on my son too, so following this thread to get some tips!

Aveeno is made by Johnson's but doesn't seem to have the same effects for some reason

I use aveeno and dove baby range on both of mine.

Thanks - I will look into Aveeno, I use the adult moisturiser myself.

Has anyone used Burts or Weleda for their baby?

I’ve used childs farm shampoo and Aveno body wash for both of mine without problems. It is expensive so keep an eye out for offers

I’ve gone for Weleda shampoo and bath cream after reading lots of excellent reviews online!

I’ve been using childs farm bubbles and shampoo. Loved the smell of Johnson’s but he seemed to get dry skin all the time so switched

mobear · 25/06/2020 19:02

I am going to try La Roche-Posay as I’ve always had great luck with their products and they have a baby range.

Brieminewine · 25/06/2020 21:52

Burts bees! I used to use child’s farm but we had a bad shampoo in eyes episode so I moved to burts and it’s lovely and gentle, never had any issues!

APurpleSquirrel · 25/06/2020 21:56

We used Burts Bees on DD to begin with but after about a year she started reacting to it so we switched to Child's Farm & haven't had any problems since. Their Suncream is also one of the only ones DD doesn't react too either.

icedaisy · 25/06/2020 21:57

Snap @APurpleSquirrel and the sun cream is on offer on Amazon just now

Frlrlrubert · 25/06/2020 21:58

We used Burts for DD, she seems to get on really well with it, though the couple of times I've used it in myself when I've run out I found it quite drying.

I use Original Sprout and very happy with it.

It’s pricy, but I use tiny amounts so it lasts ages.

Another vote for child’s farm and dive baby here. I don’t think bubble bath is needed just shampoo.

rottiemum88 · 26/06/2020 03:33

We got a free sample of Burt's Bees to try through Mumsnet a while ago and still buy it now. It has a really strong smell which I'm not a huge fan of, but DS has really sensitive skin and it's the only thing he's been able to tolerate

BeforeIPutOnMyMakeup · 26/06/2020 04:23

Check the ingredients - some of Johnsons (and supermarket) products contain SLS which is drying to the skin. Dove baby, childs farm, etc don't.

I use some of Johnsons bubble bath products but Dove baby wash which is also a shampoo.

springrollover · 26/06/2020 05:25

Infacare baby bath. I have severe eczema & have used this as a shower gel myself for last 20 years, it's the only thing I can use
