Formula brands?

A breastfeeding advisor told me that all first milks are identical recipes irrespective of brand due to government guidelines. I assume this means they all contain a minimum of ingredients, but are some superior? Anyone know about this? Thanks

There's a really interesting dispatches episode on demand with channel 4. Basically formula is very regulated. If an ingredient is found to be beneficial then they have to have it. Some more expensive brands contain other ingredients that have not proven to be beneficial. That means that all brands of formula will be equally as good for your baby. We chose the cheapest we could get locally and my 7 month old is absolutely grand.

The ingredients aren't identical, but from a nutritional point of view they are (more or less) identical.but I suppose different producers use different ingredient combinations to get there. Some are organic, some aren't, some are vegetarian (or vegan), some aren't.

Yes, they are basically all the same. I would choose what you can easily buy at whatever shop you normally do your shopping (don't choose some fancy brand you can only buy online) and that is also well tolerated by your baby.

They’re basically the same. Some are organic but while I only eat (and feed my family) organic food formula is so processed I thought it was ridiculous and just went for the cheapest.

Yes basically the same.

I think they’re basically the same. We did go with Hipp Organic, but only because it comes in a cardboard box and not a plastic tub - nothing to do with the actual formula.
