What age would you say is appropriate to allow your child to play out UNSUPERVISED?

Depends what you mean unsupervised and where. In an enclosed garden with a parent in the adjoining room (we have a door to the garden from the kitchen) 5. In the park with no adults 9/10 depending on responsibility of the child and distance from home.

What setting? My nearly 4 year old plays in the garden on her own, we live rural on a street with 15 houses, it's a secure garden so she can't get out and we can see anyone coming along the street (very rare, most people stay in their garden)/down the drive. She comes to the patio doors every so often to see us too
If it was a garden on a busy street i wouldn't let her, i'd maybe say 6 or 7 based on how mature the child for that setting

My oldest child was 5.5 yrs. She is sensible and was allowed to play at street in front of house. By age 6 she could go to the park round the corner and most places in the street.

Sorry I wasnt clear enough.
Down the street or at a green down the road from your house. Lots of houses and the street is full of houses with no off road parking? No parents present just children?

What do you mean? 4 year old playing unsupervised in the street, no. 12 year old playing unsupervised at a park, yes. 5 year old playing unsupervised in their own garden, yes. 9 year old playing unsupervised outside their own house, yes. I could go on...

In a garden - 6

In the neighbourhood - 12. We have one straight road and a group of idiot teens with souped up hatchbacks and heavy right feet. They've wiped out neighbouring fences twice in the last year so even being on the pavement isn't safe..
