14 week old seems in pain with pooing - when does it get better?

Sorry for double posting, not sure which section to put this in.

My 14 week old has been struggling to poo for a good while now. I've spoken to both my HV and GP about it - sometimes it doesn't trouble her, other times she seems to be in a lot of pain and is grunting and straining, and she does seem generally unhappy although we do get smiles at points in the day. They both assure me it's normal development, and her body is just getting used to it, and my GP suggested I should see some improvement by 16 weeks (I think because she would be sitting more by then so can pass gas more easily?). However, it doesn't stop be being worried that maybe something else could be upsetting her, as she does seem to be in a lot of pain at times and the only thing that seems to settle her is a feed (I'm EBF). I also didn't get a 6 week check (GP stopped it because of coronavirus), so apart from a one off check at the doctor's for an "obstruction" no one has really looked at her.

I've been giving her infacol to help with gas etc as she's been quite unsettled and colicky in her first few months.

I wondered what other people's experience of this was. If she's still learning to poo when does it normally sort itself out?

My experience of 3 breast fed babies is that what you described is entirely normal.

Thanks @Neolara that's very reassuring. I don't suppose you remember when they started to find it a bit easier?

I'm sorry, I can't remember when it started to get better. It was a while ago.

Just bumping this - whilst it's been getting better we had a difficult day and night last night and I'm just wondering if it was a blip or tummy trouble or just normal. My baby is 18 weeks now.

There were a couple of times yesterday when she just randomly started crying intensely, both of these times were about 30 mins or so after feeding. Then in the night she woke more than usual and looked as if her stomach was hurting as she kept pulling her legs up to her tummy, and when I'd soothed her and put her back down, it didn't take long for her to do this again, but she rolled onto her side which seemed to make things more comfortable.

I did try bicycle legs and similar in the night but this didn't seem to help. It was difficult though as she wanted to keep her legs straight.

Has anyone else had anything like this and it just got better? Or does it sound like something I should do something about?

Sorry if stupid questions, I'm a FTM and still learning.
