Hi, I'm desperate for some help and advice, since my little one was born, hes been in bed with me, I had a horrible birth and had PND, I did buy a moses basket, then a next to you crib, weve got a fully kitted out baby bedroom with sleepy heads etc and every other gadget. But from birth as soon as he wasn't in my arms or next to me he would wake up and start screaming, until I had him back in with me. I'm really tired of it, tbh I just want a bit of space back to myself and maybe a couple of hours to myself in the evening so I can have the luxury of taking a shower etc etc. I

Any advice please!!

I would get a small double mattress and put it down in his room, don’t bother with a cot or sleepyhead at this stage. Make sure he room is baby proofed with a baby gate on the door and doesn’t have any toys in it other than a cuddly toys and bedtime books. The first week or so his sleep will be worse so stay with him the whole time in his room when he is asleep at night. Then get him to sleep and then roll away. You will need to get up and resettle him in the night or hop in with him. Is he ff or bf? Do you have partner?

Brace yourself for a week or so of absolute hell but it is doable and it’s better for both of you if he learns to sleep in his own bed. DS was in with us until about 15 months and like you I just couldn’t take it anymore. I found white noise worked really well, louder than you think it should be! I sat in his room the first few nights then moved to the landing. He kicked off for about a week then seemed to accept it beyond a few grumbles! It helps if they’re not overtired when they go to bed, daytime naps are a must so you may want to work on cracking those first. Good luck Smile
