Cold turkey with the sleepyhead

My little girl is 4 1/2 months old, we’ve been using the sleepyhead for overnight sleeping since she was around 9/10 weeks. I understand the safety guidelines and have done my own research and at the time felt this was the right decision for me and my baby. The sleepyhead was in the next 2 me crib. Now she is getting bigger I’m having the worst anxiety about her sleeping in there and know she should be moved into the next 2 me without it.
I’ve decided tonight to try cold turkey - I have attempted this 2 or 3 times before and have the most horrendous night as soon as I put her down she wakes.
Same tonight, she fell to sleep in the sleepyhead so I put the monitor on her - when I came up to bed I moved her into the next to me out of the sleepyhead. She slept for around 2 hours and then woke up. This is the 3rd time I’ve tried to put her back in there after falling to sleep on me and she wakes up instantly rolling around.
I just wondered if anyone had any similar experience and how long it took for your LO to get used to sleeping without it?

Times before I have tried and give up and just put her back in the sleepyhead but I’m determined to wean her off it now I don’t want her to be too dependant on it as she’s getting older.
Also - I’m not comfortable with rolling any sheets under the blanket, she is in a sleeping bag and we have white noise playing every night.

Will I just have to wait it out until she gets used to it?
Sorry for the long post , thank you if you’ve read this far!

Perhaps put a thin hat on her, in case it is the temperature difference that she is waking up an noticing. Just an idea, I've never used a sleepyhead.

It might be because you're moving her after shes fallen asleep. Can you put her down drowsy so she falls asleep in the place shes going to be for the night?

Also, can you make the mattress more snug? Like trying to replicate the feeling of a sleepyhead so you can gradually wean her off it?

Take the sausage shaped cushion out of the sleepyhead (the cover just unzips) and put it under the fitted cot sheet. Over time, move it further out so she gets used to having more space. The mattresses in Next to Me cots are horrendously hard so I also took the flat cushion out of the sleepyhead and put it under the fitted sheet.

My baby slept like this when we transitioned to her big cot with no problem when we eventually took it away completely.

And do not put a hat on her as a PP said, not advised and a risk of overheating

We had exactly the same. My LO started to roll on her tummy at 4m and I was worried about her being in the sleepyhead. We went cold turkey, it was horrendous and after about three nights I tried to put the sleepyhead back in to give us all a break but sleep was still bad! It gradually got better over a week but I'd say at least two weeks to get a decent night. And then she started to learn to crawl, practicing all night :/

Good luck! I'd say stick to it for at least two weeks and things will get better.

We had the same - try putting a luke warm hot water bottle in there beforehand to cosy it up. Make sure he / she is tucked in really snug with the blankets you use as it’s the wraparound feel of the sleepyhead that they like.

But yeah, you’re guna have to tough it out! Our DD outgrew gets around that age and it did become a bit unsafe.

Good luck x

Thanks everyone
Much better night tonight - still stirring a few times but popped dummy back in and she was fine. She’s normally awake around now for a feed and is still asleep!
She has been in all sorts of positions tonight she’s rolled into her side and seems to like it!
