Comfort milk advice

I need some advice and experiences with Comfort Milks.
My daughter is 7 weeks old and has been struggling with what we thought was colic since around 3 weeks old. She's on aptamil first formula. Draws her knees up a lot, red faced crying/straining. HV said it sounds like colic and suggested infacol which has helped her do big burps but nothing else. She poos once every 24hrs, good amount and soft but in between this time it's like she's constantly straining to do a poo. HV has now suggested 2oz of water a day and ready made formula which hasn't made any difference whatsoever

Comfort milk saved my sanity and my baby when she was 2 weeks old. I accepted it was colic, but one night she just screamed and screamed and i took her to A&E to be safe. She was fine, but a nurse there said her son was the same and said to try comfort. Different baby within 24 hours. Its just has the lactose broken down more so easier on their bellies when they're so tiny. Best thing we ever did. Makes poos green and really smelly but only side affect. Took 2 weeks to fully settle in. X

Thanks for your reply. I've heard this from quite a few people, that it's really helped colicky, windy babies. She doesn't cry inconsolably but is very fussy for a lot of the day. I think like you say, their stomach is so small and I just think she's having a hard time digesting her milk. I'm definitely not over feeding her.
Just spoke to my HV and she's said to try a different brand of milk but advised against Comfort or anything like that for now as she's not constipated.

I'm going to give Hiip organic a go and see how she gets on with that. I've heard good things about it.
Just hate seeing her so uncomfortable all the time! 🙁

I used comfort too! Saved us. LO was never constipated but had everything you mentioned. It was a dream. Used it for 4 months then went back to aptamil 1.

I used comfort milk it did help but my baby was still crying very rashy and loose stool and vomiting quite alot so took her to the doctors and she was prescribed neocate which is a special formula made from aminoacids. But after that she was so much better it was such a relief to see her happy

I used Cow and Gate comfort milk for both of mine when they were tiny babies. The C&G formula was a bit thicker than normal formula so if the Hipp one is the same, you’ll probably need to go up a teat size or she’ll find it hard to get the milk through the newborn size. It might cause wetter poos as well so a barrier cream could be needed to stop sore skin.

Thank you all! Poor thing has had another crying episode this morning and she's obviously in so much discomfort. Spoke to HV again as she was literally screaming during her feed and finally been given the go ahead to put her on Comfort milk. Fingers crossed it helps her x

Good luck. Comfort was an absolute god send for me. Be prepared for some explosive nappies but that's a small price to pay for the happiness of your baby.

Thank you @zippityzip
I'm happy to change more nappies and poo everywhere if it means her being happier and more comfortable ☺️

It's amazing stuff if I FF another baby I would go straight for comfort.

I always remember the hv's and midwives who came to visit me, show that they somehow disapproved of comfort milk. Not sure why when it helps so many babies! Good luck I hope it helps x

Hi. I’ve put my baby on comfort milk yesterday as she’s very grumbly at night and doesn’t sleep well. My thoughts were this could help her digestion and stop her windyness.

The thing is today she has been crying endlessly and I have no idea why. Could it be the change to comfort? I have found it a lot harder when feeding her to get wind up, is this a normal thing with comfort milk? Has anybody else found that?
