My ds calls bowling 'the gallows' and calls the bicycle pump 'the shank'.

Do all kids do this - if so what wierd and wonderful words do your dcs choose?

NOt kids but my dh's gran for some reason took to calling his new porsche convertible 'the shed'

Why do you call it that we asked. Because it's roof goes down - like a shed, she said.

Ds1 calls shootin (ie firing a weapon) "Peeooowing!" So he will shout "Mummy! Ds2 is peeoowing me with the water gun again!"

numptysmummy · 24/09/2007 14:41

Dd1 used to call music 'liebik' and in our house we all say 'leffaget' instead of forget. Oh,and 'yukky dah' if something is horrible. Loads more but i can't remember them all now.

KaySamuels · 24/09/2007 14:41

I'm glad mine's not the only one then! He has also began to spontaneously look straight at us a few times a day with a manic grin and raised eyebrows and say 'cuckoo'! Me and DP find it hilarious and unsettling at once!

I'm glad too - our friends think we're mad because whole family speak in numptysmummy language! Have to repeat whole sentences in english, very tiresome!

InMyHumbleOpinion · 24/09/2007 16:42

Oh!

BazBees.

ds1 speak for rasberries. I still offer bazbees.

ds calls my breasts Barbaras for some reason. Which he seems to think is v. funny.

KaySamuels · 24/09/2007 18:58

My ds peeps down my top cheekily, or grabs my boobs and says 'gleeeeeeb!'

In my DH's family they don't leave tea bags to brew they sagaciate! He was totally convinced this was a real word until quite recently.

purpleduck · 24/09/2007 20:19

my ds used to call airplanes "dadush" ???

still can't figure out why!

Boco · 24/09/2007 20:23

DDs call something that tastes sour 'winter windmill'. When dd1 was 2 she was eating an organge and it made her shudder and she said it made her shiver like a winter windmill, and it stuck. She also refers to things as 'spicy pond' - there's some subtle difference between the two types of sour, but i don't quite understand. I love it when they say 'i don't like this, it's a bit winter windmill' to people who have no idea what they mean.

popsycal · 24/09/2007 20:26

Edam - my niece used to call my mum (her grandma) Barbara for years (not her name.....)

DS2 calls my breasts 'jubabas'. Helicopter is 'choppychopper'.

stressteddy · 24/09/2007 20:27

Mine says pop pops for grapes and for having his nails cut

SpacePuppy · 24/09/2007 20:32

When my niece ate something she didn't like she used to say "It's a bit minty"

onemore · 24/09/2007 20:33

Ds2 calls short sleeved tops - sleeves up and long sleeves....yes you guessed - sleeves down!

edam · 24/09/2007 20:34

That's funny, Popsy! Wonder where on earth they get it from...

Charlee · 24/09/2007 20:36

My DS1 call blankets 'Lummy's' he always has done and even at the age of 3 he will not say blanket - he can but won't it started just with his comfort one but now every blanket is a Lummy, he also calls cusions 'sofas' so we often get

'mumm can i have a sofa and a Lummy to play beds on the floor'

stinkymalinki · 24/09/2007 20:42

My DS calls lychees 'prickle eggies'! Don't know where he got it from, but the name has stuck now, so we all call them prickle eggies

Lorayn · 24/09/2007 20:43

'Di' or 'dee' he hasn't written it yet, means finished.

Surfermum · 24/09/2007 20:44

Dd says underneath and overneath.
