Baby walkie

My 7.5 month old can't move in it.. just moves back once or twice. Is this normal

She hasn't been in it much.. just 10 minutes every now and then.

How long does it take a baby to move using it?

I'm worried about hips problems so been trying to stay away from it (it was a gift)

But whe she does use it she can't seem to move.

Is this normal?

Thank you :)

Baby walkers serve no purpose. They don't help babies learn to walk or hold their weight because of incorrect hip position. They are not a good thing to use for play, because of how they hold baby. So why do you want to use it? What reason do you feel you need to? There are millions of other ways to entertain baby and encourage gross motor skills.

are her feet flat on the floor when in it? We did use them for short periods. Also gave snacks in it sometimes as it had a tray

@FATEdestiny thank you for the reply. That's true. I was more curious. We have been using it much anyway. 10 mins in two weeks. It just sits there. But was wondering how it works and if its normal for her to no move her legs.

Hi @dementedpixie thank you. I did check and her feed where on the floor. But then she would strectch them forwards so her legs were no straight. If that makes any sense.

I'd just get rid. To encourage gross motor skills you cannot beat floor time. Dot toys out of reach so she has to reach and stretch to get them. Encourage pulling up to standing (if she's ready) by holding her hands to stand and sit back down. Then once standing, start putting her standing against the sofa with a toy at the other end - to encourage cruising to fetch it.

My son was always wanting to do more than he was physically able to. He would scream all the time, if he was awake he was screaming. Obviously we got him checked out, no reflux slight colic but nothing else. I tried a dummy nope that didn’t help either. Then someone lent us a baby walker. Omg he loved it. He was upright and quickly learnt to go back and forward in it. He also used it in the garden. He was about 5 months old. He moved it by pushing with his chest which obviously worked in the walker but wouldn’t actually help with proper walking. I stopped using it when he was about 8 months old . As he was used to being upright he still wanted to be able to do that so he more or less straight away started furniture coasting. He was not bothered about no longer being in the walker, it had served its use. He walked his first steps when he was 9 months old to the day. I know walkers are frowned upon now but for us it was really helpful at a really difficult time.
