Im nervous about DP returning to work. DC1 is a livewire, coping well with DC2s arrival but doing the normal toddler terror things such as throwing EVERYTHING, TV isn't of interest either. Also no napping for DC1 anymore!

So far I've

  • set up change station upstairs and downstairs
  • safe place to put DC2 in every room
  • going to make DC1s food for the next day in the evening so there is no faffing
  • carrier for DC2

What have I missed?

You sound like you've got the practicalities covered! Are you getting your toddler to help you? Mummy's tummy is still sore so I need you, super duper big brother/sister, to help. Can you pass me a nappy? Etc etc. Helps make them feel important and involved.

Microwave meals - for you and toddler.
If you can stretch to it, some new toys (just cheap ones) to roll out in emergencies.
Youtube on The tv?

Honestly, if it was me (mine were 11 weeks and 3 years old at start of lockdown), I would have close family round If that’s an option but ask them to Limit contact with others before they see you. You sound like you’re well organised but bloody hell I found it hard on my own. Wish you the best xx

Toddler isn't always that keen to be helpful, knows how but can be a cheeky thing but we are working on it

Happy to get some new toys and yes, I have thought about enlisting support from friends and family who i know haven't been anywhere. Will be out at National Trust places as soon as I can drive and comfortably run after the toddler as life out of the house is so much easier!

Thank you for your help!

Lots of people with similar gaps have given the me the same advice- get a sling and cart the baby around in it! X
